A simple archaeology site, a nice diversion for an afternoon. When you go into the town, there is a man who has in his house many artifacts. You will also be able to find a guide to take you to see more aritifacts in the hills, as well as a cactus that must be near 30 metres high. The view of the valley below the cactus is breathtaking. Be careful in the village, there are children that will try to sell you artifacts.

    Snorkeling in playa "Las Gatas"

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You can take a boat (lancha) from the main pier of Zihuatanejo for 30 pesos to the beach Las gatas, a beach you can only reach per boat..
The small boats have a very regular schedule.
Once you arrive in las Gatas, you can hire a snorkeing gear.
You will see lots of fishes of beautifull colours. The place is great.
I drank a natural coconut and enjoyed the sun and the ocean.

Go to the entrance of the village of Zihuatanejo and close to the big supermarket La bodega you can take the local bus to the village of Petatlan, about a 40 minutes rides.
The village of Petatlan is known for its typical Mexican street scene, his church , and you can buy gold at a very good price.
We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and you can really enjoy the Mexican traditions. .
Do not forget to take a fruit water. All the fruits you can imagine. at the heladeria in front of the church.
