One of the most beautiful settings in Vallarta. Tiny white lights on trees overhanging the Río Cuale, open air seating with ample room and friendly, fast service by handsome meseros. Menu changes often featuring the finest the chef has to offer. Fish and meat entrees 150-180p, calamari. Very creative, and do not miss the desserts 60p as chocolate cake and crème brulee! Paintings are by local artist Marta Gilbert, a regular here at the bar. Buy a poster and have her sign it for you. Jazz by Beverly and Willow often, depending upon the season. Tropical elegance. A top treat! [From my free guide] Just ask... Gary http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Puerto_Vallarta_OldTown_SouthSide

Mexican Food by jamiesno In all seriousness before this specific trip to Mexico, I didn't enjoy hot food and during this trip I didn't over endulge either. But there was one night they oddly named Mexico night at the Royal Decameron Resort. I have a picture of my plate here. The peppers and stuff were crazy hot. I was sweating like never before on the trip but enjoying the tasty food. Ever since that night I have a regular diet of hot hot sauces and food. It's great!!!!!!!! Leave a Comment

That is what it says on the wall next to this stand, E=MC^2 Smart People Eat Here. The gentleman who runs this stand, Eduardo, serves up some awesome seafood burrito's. I ate here twice and had the Marlin Burrito the first time, and the Shrimp Burrito the second time. Both were large and extremely delicious. Eduardo is quite a character. He loves to chat and spent some time in the United States, so he speaks excellent English. He is also fond of Motown and Classic 60's and 70's Rock that he has playing on the boombox.
Marlin Burrito and Shrimp Burrito. Both are very large. The Shrimp Burrito for example had about a dozen plump shrimp. The meat is seasoned very nicely and is grilled fresh. He adds lettuce and tomato once the meat is cooked and grills the tortilla. They come with a side of Macaroni Salad and a squeeze bottle of this delicious Hot Habanero sauce. Makes me want to book a trip back there just for one of these burritos. We go here almost every week, since we live in PV for 6 months every year. The beer is always cold, and the quesadillas and tacos are great. Bathrooms are clean. Open from about noon until late night. Air conditioned in the hotter months.
I love the quesadillas with Al Pastor (pork) but also like the chorizo. My husband always orders a bowl of beans with chorizo, which come with several tortillas for "make your own tacos" for under $3. We rarely spend over $10US here, even with tip. Went to this little restaurant on the suggestion of a friend from Denmark. The cab ride (Mexican Shortcut) was exhilirating to say the least. The cab turns off the new highway down a dirt path by the Cuale River....and there it is. Cuale Paradise is an open air restaurant under a thatch roof surrounded by flowers and shrubs, birds and, surprisingly, no bugs, We let the waiter make a few suggestions and we were floored by the ample portions and flavors laid before us. Nico, the owner, is head chef and all the family works for him. The shrimp were massive, and I could not believe he talked my friends into trying octopus. After the glorious meal we indulged in a few of Nico's Special Coffees and bid him adieu. He insisted on giving us a ride to a nightclub in the company limo - a shiny dark green VW Bug. What a great guy and an execellent choice for a real Mexican Dining experience.
Any house Special will surely appease your appetite and excite your tastebuds. When I went to Pipi's with my friends I was expecting the typical tourist trap. I was wrong. I received outstanding service at Pipi's and a great meal. The prices were also fairly reasonable for the portion sizes.

Some people say, "It is too far from the center of Puerto Vallarta". Other's say, "There are hundreds of Mexican restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, choose one in town". Sorry!!! You haven't enjoyed the feel of laid back, sip a margarita, hear the river flow, watch the canopy ride overhead, listened to the strum of a guitar under the giant palapa, and eaten salsa and guacamole until the chips run out, until you sit at a table by the river at Chico's Paradise. Wuff. I have to catch my breath and slow down. This is what a vacation, holiday, weekend away, whatever you wish to call it, is made of. Paradise, it may not be, but it feels like heaven should. If you like atmosphere, ambience, and Mexican food, then Chico's is the place. The only drawback is that they only take cash. CASH. No credit card. At first, I thought, "forget it". I am thrilled that I came to my senses and agreed to go. Cash is available in Puerto Vallarta with a credit card if you didn't bring enough with you. Bring a few extra dollars or pesos for the singers. That twaing of the strings of a guitar with a high C "Cu-Cu-Rru-Cu-Cu Paloma" makes the margarita go down....muy suavemente.
One very large, potent, and satisfying Margarita on the rocks. Add a little guacamole with chips and the time slides by. They have a mexican plate that fills your desire for mexican food with a delicious chile relano, enchilada, steak strip, burrito, rice and beans. Ole! Leave a Comment

Excellent restaurant. The proprietor is Vicente, "El Querreque", a regionally reknowned folk musician. His poetry is on display inside. He was very polite and tolerated my broken Spanish admirably.
Heuvos Mexicanas, cafe con leche and tortillas. Excellent taste. Straightforward, unpretentious and delicious. Picnic-table seating in a large room up from the Malecón, full of people downing drinks and huge platters of fine and reasonable Mexican fare and margaritas. Not too much out of the ordinary here, but the sizzling fajitas, complimentary guacamole prepared tableside, burritos and Mexican Combo are quite good.
