Los Arcos by jamiesno Los Arcos is the name given to the three huge rocks just off shore near Mismaloya. The name Los Arcos (The Arches) comes from the arching caves and grottoes that have been carved out by time and the pounding surf. The area is now a federal underwater park and eco-reserve. It sports some of the best underwater exploring along the coast, and several tours take visitors there daily. Los Arcos is also the name of the open-air Amphitheater at the end of El Malecon in El Centro, where the original namesake can been seen through the man-made arches that mark the site. Each Sunday afternoon free public performances are given and artists set up their wares. I got to do a small bit of snorkeling here. Follow up link and I have a seperate Los Arcos page with plenty of pictures of the area in the travelogues. Leave a Comment

there is a cable up there that crosses the stream by meeshelmybelle The location is beautiful. Set in a wooded area over a large stream. A bit expensive but worth it. You are harnessed onto cables and slide from one platform to another in the trees. There is a special form you must use or else you may get stuck in the middle of a cable hundreds of feet in the air and have to be rescued. Very fun for the whole family. And the staff is very nice. Even if you're not a hiker, the jungle tour at El Eden is a MUST!, the trails arent that hard and the sights are breathtaking!, beautiful waterfalls, exotic flora, you might even get a chance to taste the sap of the tree where Chicklets (the gum) originated from! The guides are very knowledgeable. Go HIKING AT El Eden! Leave a Comment

by meeshelmybelle This is not merely for people who like to drink or partiers. You get a free lesson on how they make tequila and free tastes of very good tequila. Dan going up the Waterfall at El Eden by GinGinCoo Go swimming in large pools and waterfalls between gigantic river boulders. The water is warm, be careful going to the falls because the rocks are very slippery (my friend fell several times, thats him in the picture in the water!). Going to the waterfall you have to enter this little cave with a bamboo ladder, be very careful climbing up there. Leave a Comment

South of Mismaloya, just past Le Kliff restaurant, there is a beach (Boca de Tomatlan) where you can grab a beer and then a water taxi to Las Animas. The ride is short (5-10 minutes) and the beach is small and charming. Just hanging out for an hour is fun. Last trip I tried parasailing which was easy and an amazing view of the area. For those who are not so adventerous or who do not want to get stuck on an all day adventure, I highly recommend. by cherylll Visit the small town of San Blas, where you can see beautiful 16 th century forts and ruins. There are a lot of interesting Mexican arts/crafts not seen in Puerto Vallarta. I was kicking myself later for not having bought these unique tara -cotta beads that, I , of-course could not find anywhere else! The trip takes about 2 hrs by bus, north into the hills, lots of good sight seening along the way... tobacco fields, banana tree's, tequila cactus, etc. Also many small Mexican villages along the way as well. After visiting San Blas the highlight of the trip is the boat ride up the mangroves, but not for those who are afraid of crocadilles, as you see many out in the wild and they are huge! Also, a lot of wild birds, large turtles, and interesting bugs. Once at the top of the mangroves you can dock and take a tour through the wild life preserve again, lots of croc's, quotimundo's(not sure of spelling), colourful birds, etc... they are all caged of-course. It was definitly the highlight of our trip, we had our 3 teenagers and they loved it, something they will never forget! Leave a Comment Directions: approx 2-3 hrs north of Puerto Vallarta ( bus tours are available for this)

Los Arcos by extremist We rented a car and decided to do our own sightseeing, which if you really want to see outside of town, you must rent a vehicle and explore. This is Los Arcos, we snorkeled around these rocks, and that particular day, the currents were shifting and the water was murkey and there were lots of jellyfish in the water. Leave a Comment

Yelapa by scott_dallas One day I took the bus all the way south of town to Boca de Tomatlan. It is a small, mostly untouristed, fishing village. There is not a whole lot to do there, but it is a nice place to relax, wander around, and take a few pictures. The views are very nice. There is an open air restaurant / bar on the waterfront. From here you can take the water taxi to remote beaches further south. I went to Yelapa which is the most popular, but is somewhat of a tourist trap although I enjoyed it. At Yelapa I kayaked in the inlet, strolled the village, and went to see the waterfall. There are also several other beaches that are much less crowded to deserted along the way. See my travelogues on "Boca de Tomatlan" and "Afternoon in Yelapa". Leave a Comment Directions: As far south as the autobus runs from Puerto Vallarta.

by mjd74 I had my doubts about the entire idea of faith healing before it was recommended I go to this man. While living in Puerto Vallarta, I suffered from 3 pinched nerves in my left foot. I went to a therapist 3-4 times a week for an entire month only to have the problem go away and come back. The pain of every day walking was so intense that I was bed ridden at times. A local who I had run in to recommended that I talk to an older fellow living around Pitillel about my problem. When I went to his house he knew immediately what the problem was and told me that he could fix it. Well, 15 minutes later and $2US dollars later I walked out of his house completely healed. I have talked to his neighbors who told me that they have seen people from all over the world go to his house for treatment. I like you had my doubts until I went and saw him. Please keep in mind that I am not only a cynic but a skeptic as well.
