The archaeological site of Guachimontones is probably the main reason why many people go to Teuchitlan.
Believe me that the time and hiking will be worth once you are at the archaeological site. The first time that I saw it I was amazed to see the concentric structure and the beauty of it , but take your time and do a little more hiking to get to the small hill behind the main structure and and passing the ball court. the hills is no beauty by itself and the way there is one that should be made with caution specially with children, but do it!!
The view from that hill is amazing, but there´s something else that is difficult to explain; the feeling of being there, the air, the atmosphere, the view, all together make that a unique experience.
These concentric circular pyramids are unique in the world!
Excavations of these started in 1996 and first opened to general public in 2003. So be aware that the place is rather small compared with most archaeological sites in México, excavations are still in progress.
Entrance fee is $30pesos
The entrance fee include entrance to the archaelogical site, museum (small museum) and clean restrooms ;)

Guachimontones: Archeological Zone
It's the biggest archeological area in the state of Jalisco... but if you are visiting Mexico, and you've been to other ruins like Teothicuacan or Chichen Itza... you may get a little bit disappointed. The pyramids are cool, they are circular buildings... which make them cooler. But still, they are small... and after all, you enjoy the view from atop the hill more than the own site.
If you have a car, it's worth the trip... but if you're taking buses, you'll spend more time getting there... than there.
