Montemorelos Things to Do
A hero's point of view
When staying in Montemorelos or passing through, you might want to save a little time to visit a hill to the east of town on which a gigantic statue was erected of one of Mexico's Independence heroes, José Maria Morelos. It offers a great vantage point for a panoramic view over the city. During day time it offers nice distance views and at night it has a lovely atmosphere due to to many lanterns along the staircase to the look out behind Don Morelos.

Tacos La Maca: Authentic Mexican Food that is to die...
This little hole in the wall has the best tacos I've had in a long time. They sell fajita tacos, but you have to ask for tacos asada. The treatment of it's patrons is impressive to say the least. We asked around where was a good place to eat tacos and mostly everyone said this place. It has no sign, so it took us a little while to find it. But I can say that the tacos were worth it.
Favorite Dish: I had the tacos asada. The meat was very tasty and tender. The home-made salsa and salsa verde (green salsa) was very good. The home-made corn tortillas were excellent. Like I said, this place is worth the time it took to find it.Related to:

One of the things you might enjoy when in Montemorelos are the beautifully crafted hats and belts and other leather ware that are being sold here, among others by a gentleman called Juan Reyes at his corner stand in the centre of town. He offers all kinds of hats, broad brimmed or smaller ones and belts and wallets and such for sale. He even has them in smaller sizes for children.
