Changing money, Monterrey

Favorite thing: I was in Monterry last September. In my experience, only Banamex changed dollar travellers checks; and I went to numerous banks across the city! For Cash, US Dollars could be changed in most banks and other currency exchange bureau's, Euro's can also be changed in some places. However, Pounds Sterling Cash could not be changed! If you arrive in Monterrey with no money, go to an ATM machine until the banks open!

Favorite thing: When I was getting ready for this trip I figured that the most logical thing to do would be to get travelers checks to ensure that I wouldn't be ripped off by anyone, bad idea. When I got to Monterrey on Friday at about 10 pm I couldn't trade in my travelers checks for pesos anywhere, since they only take travlers checks at banks. Yes that means that casa de cambios don't accept them, nor do nightclubs, restaurants, or stores. Be careful or you will end up without any money.
