Planetario Alfa is, as the name states,a planetarium, which obviously means you can have a look at the heavens, or during the day time, at the surrounding mountain ranges. However that is not where the fun stops. The complex, promoting itself as "science and technology museum" also features a museum with Mexican antiquities, a pre-hispanic garden, a 3D movie theatre showing documentaries, an aviary and an area where visitors can perform scientific experiments in a fun way. Services rendered are school visits, children's parties, courses and conferences and renting of spaces for festivities.

    Alfa planetarium, Monterrey

Alfa Cultural Center is a wide space with replicas of archaeological jewels from all around Mexico. It also has an aviarium, a planetarium and Imax theatre, plus hands-on exhibits. You can't miss it!

Entrance is 70 pesos (about 6 dollars) for both museum and Imax film, 35 (3) for museum only. (fees 2004)

Free bus from the Alameda park in downtown.

This cultural center is part of Grupo Alfa industries, one of the most powerful industrial groups in Mexico (petrochemicals, food, autoparts, telecomm and steel; 38,000 employees and 7 billion dollars in assets)

  • Monterrey had a wonderful...

Monterrey had a wonderful Planetarium - Alfa. There are also so many, many museums. The history and the art is incredible.
Everyone should go to a planetarium if they have the chance. They have a great IMAX screen which is always playing some really excellent movie. You can choose from fine art, glass, history, and you name it for the museum areas.
