Around this square, there are some colonial buildings, like The 'Capilla de los dulces Nombres'(chapel of the sweet names), built in 1838; the metropolitan Cathedral and the Mercantile Bank.

Contrasting, in the center of the macro square is the monument 'Faro del Comercio' (Lighthouse of Trade), with a height of 70 meters and that it in its roof harbors a laser-ray equipment, and the light crosses the sky of the city of Monterrey every night (By the way this made Monterrey the first laser city of Mexico).
