I recently had my face beaten to a pulp in a bar in Huatulco. When I checked with a witness she told me that some weeks previously she had been savagely attacked in the street and her bag cut from her with a knife as she lay writhing from the pain of the blows to her face. When I mentioned this to another friend she told me that the same thing had recently happened to a number of older Canadian women.

There are several great places to snorkle in Huatulco. We went to the harbor where the boat owners practically attack you as soon as you get out of the car. We told the captain we wanted to drive to this one area, and he told us it was inaccessible by car. He charged us $80 for what would have been a 10 minute ($5) cab ride.

I can not say I saw rattlesnakes on the beaches or town, but when we came back from the waterfalls we saw this one on our way. We stopped the car and some (brave) people went out to beat it dead. Then I took this picture. Later a guy took of the rattle to put it is his guitar. It seems that it makes the sound better…
