Try local food, carnitas. It is pork meat cooked on a special way, really delicious. Several restaurants serve it. Many of these are along Highway 57 (the one that goes from Mexico City to Queretaro City). Just look for the signs offering "carnitas". Or visit the town of Santa Rosa Jauregui, where locals are experts on this plate.
Carnitas are served by grams (1 kg = about 12 dollars). An average person consumes 200 - 300 grams. Tortillas are free, so prepare as many tacos as you want.
