Flora & Fauna, Cancún
Favorite thing: One really cool thing about Cancun and area, are the many iguanas that can be seen and most of the ones I saw were a good size. The one pictured here lived near our hotel. I got pretty close to him, but when I got too close, he disappeared into the nearby drainage pipe.
Cancun and the entire state of Quintana Roo has wonderful wildlife. There are 475 types of bird,100 types of mammal,1200 types of plants and 2500 marine species.500 being fish.
Fondest memory: Here is a double decker bus outside La Boom nightclub, which was 2 mins from our hotel.
We were just chilling around the pool one day when these guys with the parrotts asked us would we like piccies with them! Now, I had seen these before as they are kept within the hotel, anyhow the guys told us the price for however many piccies it was - we have 2 - which actually are just computer printed on A4 paper so they arent actually photographs as such.....they cost approx US$35.00!!!!! Mmmmm......Me thinks this should be listed under tourist trap!!
We held the parrots and bought the piccies anyhow.....!!!!!
Favorite thing: The guy on the picture is aprox. 1m. (maybe 1,5m.) long and when he wasn't on HIS rock (opposite customers' sundeck area!) I wouldn't go near my sunbed - no way!!
Fondest memory: The 2 year old was absolutely fascinated by the iguanas - he called them dinosaurs. They kept disappearing under the paths as soon as anyone approached.
Favorite thing: Keep your eyes out for the Iguanas. We saw one on the walk to the Fiesta Americana Condesa, and another while we were at Chichen Itza.
