Favorite thing: Don't expect anything like the hotel zone when visiting Isla. Expect that it is a much more laid back island and is not built up like the hotel zone. Once you realize that, get a golf cart and visit this beautiful island for what it is. Don't forget to stop at the beach bars (especially Sergio's) that's the best. Shopping there is so much more reasonable than the hotel zone. If your looking for adventure, stay in the hotel zone. If your looking for raw beauty, visit Isla Mujeres.
Fondest memory: My fondest memory of Cancun has to be the sunshine, the ocean, the breeze and the smells. I miss all of those things when I'm not there. I also miss Isla Mujeres. This was our first time visiting the island and it won't be our last. Relaxing and beautiful.
Goto Ladies Island to chill out.
Favorite thing: When i went to some of the beaches in Cancun,i noticed how Mexican families were enjoying the sun and having picnics together.Just a busride away, you can see the history and culture of which they are also very proud of too at Tulum and Chichen Itza.
Fondest memory: Here is ladies island which is ideal for peace and quiet and relaxation.

ISLA MUJERESLittle island...
Favorite thing: ISLA MUJERES
Little island located at the north of Cancun. You can get there from Cancun (Pier at Av. Kuculcan) or from Puerto Juarez (little town at the coast in front of the island).
A nice day trip. Main attractions:
Playa Cocos. At the north end there is a little beach where you can walk from the shore for more than 10 minutes without getting the water above your knees. Great for children!
Parque El Garrafón. Good place for snorkeling, it has a coral reef, so it's like a huge natural swimming pool with little fishes. They rent all kind of items for snorkeling. There are little pools by the sea where you can swim amongst sharks and turtles!!
Visit Isla Mujeres !You can...
Favorite thing: Visit Isla Mujeres !
You can get to the island by taking a ferry from Puerto Juarez. The island is only 7*1km, so not too big. The island got it´s name when the Spaniards came looking for slaves in 1517 and found nothing but women on the island (all the men we´re fishing).
Fondest memory: Isla Mujeres and it´s beautiful beaches! Here´s me on one of them enjoying a coconut. (In the picture above you can see Isla Mujeres vaguely in the background).
kettravels's General Tip
Fondest memory: The Isla Mujeres is a tiny gem just a short skip across the water from Cancun. It's a tiny island, something like five miles by one and I would complete a walking circumnavigation of it at least once a day (always passing this house to the left). The island's name translates into 'Island of Women' ... although my male amigos from Spain complained that there were no women at all!
Favorite thing: For years we vacationed in Cancun....Then we found Isle Mujeres. What a perfect vacation spot. The shopping is great, especially when you get off the main drag. The food is fantastic. There are so many places to eat there with a vast array of selections. Make sure you go to Chile Locos for breakfast...its the best on coffee I have ever had!
Be sure to stop by and drink some Pomegranite Tequila at Manuels...When we were there he was the only one on the island that carried it...be careful, it sneaks up on you. He always has great bands playing and such friendly people.
We rent a golf cart for the whole time we are there. The first year we didnt and found that we missed seeing so much of the island. It is so easy to just jump in that think and cruise around for awhile. There are alot of hidden trails and great adventure places out there if you just look for them. We found quite a few on the south side of the island.
Be sure to stop by the Posada Delmar hotel and see Romey...he loves pretty women! Ha!
We snorkeled this year with one of the locals taking us out instead of the excursion trip. I HIGHLY recommend it! His name is Angel and he also has a little drink place on the main drag in town although I dont remember the name of it. He was less expensive and took us to three different reefs, then took us to shore and cooked an AMAZING lunch....it was top notch all the way.
I love Isle and will continue vacationing there every year.

Wildlife around the hotel Pool!!
Favorite thing: We were just chilling around the pool one day when these guys with the parrotts asked us would we like piccies with them! Now, I had seen these before as they are kept within the hotel, anyhow the guys told us the price for however many piccies it was - we have 2 - which actually are just computer printed on A4 paper so they arent actually photographs as such.....they cost approx US$35.00!!!!! Mmmmm......Me thinks this should be listed under tourist trap!!
We held the parrots and bought the piccies anyhow.....!!!!!
