We were strolling around La Isla Shopping Center when we came across La Casa de las Margaritas. I read reviews about it from other VT travelers - thanks guys! - and recommend the place either for lunch or dinner. While we unfortunately missed the evening performances (they start at 7:30pm, we arrived at 10:00pm and the place was cleared out), the food is great there and well worth a visit.
Both times we went the service was great. Very friendly, very prompt. The margaritas are good and the prices are reasonable across the board. Their guacamole is delicious, very fresh. There are tables outside so you can have your lunch in the somewhat open air, while the inside is huge and beautifully decorated throughout.
We ordered chicken fajitas for lunch, which were good. When we were there for dinner, I ordered the "Arrachara steak" with rice and vegetables. The vegetables were steamed and I was given very few - just a single broccoli, cauliflower, and a cactus strip. The steak was grilled, nicely peppered and tasty but also a little bit tough. My husband ordered fajitas again and a side of grilled vegetables, which was teeming. This time he had the mixed steak and chicken, very good.
Random note: On Tuesdays and Thursdays there are cooking classes at 11AM that cost $40 per person. You make margaritas, salsa, handmade tortillas, cerviche, among other dishes. We didn't have a chance to go but it sounded like fun and may be something you want to look into trying out.
Favorite Dish:
Pork Tamale starter - Loved it! It comes wrapped in a leaf and surrounded by sauce and is so very tasty, tender, and juicy. Definitely worth a try! (US $6)
A beautiful architectural feat makes you feel like you're in Old Mexico. The restaurant is divided into different areas, each of which has more beauty to discover. Costumed waiters, live music on center stage in the evenings make this one of our must-do destinations.
Favorite Dish:
Any of the seafood dishes - especially the smoked marlin tostados. Of course, it goes without saying that the margaritas are excellent! Check out www.cancunmenus.com for a sample menu.
This Restaurant is beyond comparison. I just wish we could have something like this in England.
Favorite Dish:
Pescado Emperator. Outstanding flavor, and the presentation was wonderful, hard to describe. It is interesting to say that the balance in the whole concept is unique; the waiters are incredible as well as the margaritas, so many flavors and huge!!
The atmosphere was very nice and definitely family friendly (even though I was just with friends). Had live music at nightime with Mariachis and the what not.
Favorite Dish:
Lobster Nayarita, plus the Guacomole was terrific there.
Architecture and decorations. Recommend reservations to get a table with a good view of the live entertainment in the evenings.
Favorite Dish:
Steak with mushrooms
The place is beyond description!! Their moto is "A feast for the senses" and it really is!
Favorite Dish:
The lobster is unique
