Cancun's newest shopping plaza KUKULCAN PLAZA was conveniently located right across from our Tucancun Hotel. It's only partially completed, but so far it's absolutely gorgeous. I would sometimes go there in the morning, if it was a little cloudy out.
What to buy:
Many silver jewelry shops, clothes, souvenirs, a drug store, a liquor store, etc.
What to pay:
The prices are reasonable and believe it or not, you can haggle here. I bought two Mexican blankets priced at $14.00 and actually got 2 for $20.00.
Kukulcan Plaza contains INTERNATIONAL BRAND BOUTIQUES such as : Cartier, Swatch, Swarovski, Hugo Boss, Polo, Dona Karan, Versace, Lacoste, Harley Davidson, Senor Frog's, Givenchy, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.
Located in the heart of the Hotel Zone this shopping center features a wide variety of shops and boutiques. In this mall you will find economical souvenirs in the arts & crafts shops on the second floor, a Harley Davidson shop, cinemas with movies in English and Spanish, liquor stores, bikini shops, and the latest fashions at LOB. There are 2 pharmacies, a Guess jeans and Ultra Femme Perfume Store for Duty Free purchases. There is a great food court on the second floor with everything from Italian, Oriental and Mexican food. You also have Ruth's Chris Steak House, El Pescador (Seafood), O.K. Maguey (Mexican), Splash (International), 100% Natural (For those all natural folks !) and Cenaccolo (Italian). There are also several tour operators that operate in the mall, check them out and compare prices. A must is a picture with the colorful parrots, about $30 for 5 photos but definitely will be a picture you will treasure forever!
What to buy:
Souveniers like Leather paintings are a bit expensive here, you might want to go to the Flea Markets in downtown to get more bargaining power.
We did not really do much shopping on this trip - too busy having fun! There are a few shopping malls along the Hotel strip but prices are no great bargain when you take into account the exchange on a Canadian $. We did buy a few T-shirts and travel bags for our children and grandchildren. The biggest shopping trip we had was to get our groceries at the Wal-Mart in Cancun City when we first arrived. Those few essentials lasted us for the entire trip because of all the other meals that we ate at restaurants and on tours.
There is great browsing in this Mall. I love to walk around here. It's so cool (A/C wise) and some of the best coffee ever too.
What to buy:
You can get good deals on T-shirts here. If you want the cheap ones go to market 28, however if you want decent stuff for Kids Carribean side has good deals.
What to pay:
A lot. Ruth Chris steak house there charges 32.00 for a ribeye. Don't get me wrong it's a good ribeye. My choice is Cencello's great italian food and servcie.
Shopping Mall with lots of designer shops, mostly the same prices as at home.
What to buy:
Tiffany & co was cheaper than in London.
You get a guarantee as well so if there is anything wrong you won't have a problem when you get home
This mall is Cancun's largest Shopping Mall with 300 Shops
Contains Movie Theaters, a Bowling Alley & Restaurants.
What to buy:
We baught lots of mexican handcraft items
What to pay:
average prices,not too cheap.
