In Cancùn? Are you KIDDING me? Carísimo! We have already bought all the touristy souvenir stuff from previous trips to Mexico, and a good thing, too. A lot of the things we found that we may have bought, we could buy at home for cheaper.
What to buy: 990 ml Jose Cuervo tequila for about 130 pesos. We also priced 1800 tequila, ranging from 330 pesos tp 500 pesos. At Wal-Mart, about 250 pesos. I hate to say it, but this is the place to shop in Cancùn.
If you need to buy in Cancun, a great tip is NOT in a mall, those are only for foreign tourist. The price is not Double is a lot more expensive!!!
Better place those small not prretty places, if they say $5.00dllrs don't pay more than 3.00. If you are good you can get it for $2.00
Just say someting like Ohh!!! I saw this at other store for half price or I only can give you 2.50 they will try give it to you by 4.00 then you should say No, I don't have more than 3.00, Put the item back to where you find it and say No sorry, thank you and go to the next store. when they See that you are living and not buying they will change lower the price.
Maybe not always will work but if you practice this soon you will be better and Your prices will be a lot better too.
What to buy: Better items to buy; the traditional women clothes, blouses are ptretty not only to use in Can cun even in your country, if you go to the beach.
Lots of T-Shirts - they were on sale. Jimmy Buffett's shop was quite expensive, but well worth it. Then I found T-shirts 2 for $5.00 USD. I like everything I bought.
What to buy: Another time I would look for a dress. I would probably buy the same types of things because I give them away as gifts later.
What to pay: Half of what they ask. Except at Jimmy Buffett's. Pay full price
La Isla Shopping Village is a great place and the most recent shopping hot spot in the Hotel Zone. You can spend a whole day here because aswell as brand-name shops, there are restaurants, marinas, 5 movie theatres, bars, dance clubs and even a modern aquarium. What more could you ask for?
The shopping village is open everyday from 10am till 10pm.
If you're looking for Mexican-style souvenirs, jewelry, clothing or handicrafts, then 'Plaza La Fiesta' is the place to go. Apparently it's the largest Mexican outlet and is open everyday from 7am till 11pm. There are 2 outlets. One in Cancun and the other in Playa del Carmen.
What to buy: Shop around for the latest gift ideas.
We had a chance to wander the downtown area of Isla Mujeres for about 2 hours. There are many small shops and narrow streets but we enjoyed just taking in the sights on this particular day.
