Jetskiing (Jungle Tour) and Snorkeling
We went on the Jungle Tour with Discovery Tours. It was about a 2 1/2 tour which takes you thru the mangrove Trees in the lagoon in a waverunner/jetski. It is so much fun! You get to see some wildlife (pelicans etc) on your way thru the mangrove and after about 20 minutes jetskiing we went snorkeling, It was awesome!!!! we saw a coral reef and several exotic fish, the snorkeling gear comes with the price of the tour but I suggest bringing/buying your own snorkle and fins because in cancun snorkeling is a must and I guarantee you'll want to do it more than once!

After several days of lazing about, we decided maybe one day we should be somewhat productive. We took the bus outside our hotel (about USD$0.60) to the Waterland Park. We decided on an afternoon excursion where we joined a tour of the nearby lagoon. They put us on these 2 person water vessels, sort of a cross between a jetski (not as fast though) and a small boat. We jetted thru the lagoon, the rain forest and out to a natural protected coral reserve in the Caribbean Sea. We stopped there and dove about with snorkels and masks...definitely reasonably priced and definitely worth the experience!

Jungle Speed Boat Tour
We arrived at Bluewater adventures opposite Fat Tuesdays where we were allocated our Speed boats and snorkels.
We were off James Bond style, we drove our own two man speedboats in a line following the main tour boat through the mangrove jungle. We stopped at a reef to do some snorkelling. The fish were beautifull. This is the first but not the last of my snorkelling experiences.
Instead of using all your time...
Instead of using all your time on the beautiful beaches, take a boat trip on the inland lagoon. There are special boats that give you a tour around the lagoon, but you can also use a canoe if you like paddling for a few hours. There are three lagoons, and the biggest one is the “Nichupté Lagoon”, used by those hotels that having two or more hotels, but then on both sides of Cancun. By using a speedboat, they bring their visitors from one hotel to the other. Then you have the “Bojórquez Lagoon” and the “Río Inglés Lagoon, but in fact all those three lagoons flowing in each other that you do not know in what lagoon you really are. See for more pictures and info in my “Lagoon travelogue” please.
You have your own mini speedboat for 2 and follow the leader (normally no more than 5 boats in your group). It gets very fast and the ride is bumpy - exhilerating!! You also get to snorkel at a nearby coral reef...the only down side to this is that there are lots of other groups all doing the same thing so the reef gets very busy. On the way back you travel through some mangrove swamps which are quite exciting
