Dont make to much noise when you walk your way back. You can scare a good looking animal like a.......... turttle !
Never seen a turttle in nature before, so i sat down for a long time and see what he was doing.... but it took him so long to do what he wanted to do that i deceided to walk to the restaurant too.
But take a look at his colours, his face and his lovely eyes.

Better NOT go of the "beaten"path
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you go into the jungle of Coba, you better stick to the guide. This archeological site is just recovered a few years ago.... so if you miss the beathen path i bed you can find yourself a new archeaological site or you die just there!
Its all tree, and very very maybe you come across a Mayan house (if you already see that it is a house!). So be carefull.

Make sure you dont miss this jungle temple complex. YOu will love it, although i hope you will have sunny weather. We had tropical rain that day, but i must say that maybe 30 degrees is worse. The jungle isnt with very close trees so a lot of the sun would come true.
Take a guide, cause you need one. He will explain all the temples and all there is to see.

Walk your way back to the restuarant
  • Tip Rating:
  • Make sure you dont take the bus back to the restaurant, cause then you can have a walk along the lake.
The rain was stopped by then (we were really soocking wett) and we could dry a litlle when we walked back.
All the animals were coming back to life, and as you can see on this picture this bird must have been in the rain too. Its trying to dry itself in the wind across the lake.

    Lake Coba
  • Tip Rating:
  • Near the restaurant we have been to, there was a great lake. It was because of all the rain that fall this day that the lake doesnt seem to be pritty. Well even with the grey clouds the lake looked wonderful. You could hear the birds and guess what other animals. If it rains in the Netherlands you normally dont hear anything else then the raindropps falling down.

The lake from an other point of view
  • Tip Rating:
  • Never go to a spot an just sit on one place... if you can walk around, sit high and lay low. Make sure you have smelled where you have been and burn the place in your brains.
This lake is something that i will never see again ... ( I guess) so now seeing the picture, brings me back to that place, closing my eyes makes me smell it....

OK, this fella didn't seem to be posing much of a threat, people were getting pretty close to him and he just didn't seem to be all that hungry, I mean if a few big juicy Americans weren't a temptation, I don't know what would be LOL

We saw this croc in the lake before you get to the entrance of the ruins. Somehow the guide knew he was there, maybe the locals let him know, maybe they throw something out there to lure him in.

On the road between Tulum & Coba, Mexico there are numerous little villages, not more than one or two streets big. They sell all kinds of touristy items, but also fresh fruit at very cheap prices. We always buy something and give a little extra since they are charging prices for fruit that I would pay 2 or 3 times more for in the USA.
