Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Swimwear, of course. Water shoes are not needed

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Sunscreen is essential for fair skinned people like me

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: If you are planning on snorkeling from the beach, bring your own mask and fin unless you don't mind using a rental

Miscellaneous: US Dollars are widely accepted especially around the cruise ship docks. You may get change in pesos.

Drivers license if you want to rent a moped or Jeep or other type of car.

Luggage and bags: A backpack is a must if you're out and about on the island.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Poncho/umbrella (sporadic precipitation)
Pants, sleeved shirts, closed-toe shoes (some activities are in the jungle)
Hats/sunglasses

Photo Equipment: Camera of course! Beautiful scenery on every side of the island.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Water/swim shoes (rocky coastline)
Snorkel/dive gear

Miscellaneous: If you bring nothing else...

Bug repellent.
Mosquitoes are vicious (even if you are accustomed to them). You will pay more if you buy on the island or at attrractions.

Bio-degradable sunscreen.
It's the only kind allowed on some parts of the island.

Luggage and bags: Small soft side bags because either you have to go on small planes or on a ferry boat.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Whether you are staying in town and diving, or at a resort - bathing suits. I also recommend good walking shoes for walking around the town. And shoes to wear in the sand or at the beach. Also light weight breathable clothing preferably 100% cotton, but not heavy jeans. Shorts, especially for men. A good wide brimmed hat (mine is hung on the top left of the mirror).

Photo 5 shows approriate clothing for a man.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Definitely sunscreen. Bob usually wears a hat, but when he was doing the scuba course, he was standing in the water and the top of his head got burned. (see photo 3)

Photo Equipment: If you are diving, you need a dive camera (which is the yellow thing on the bed in the second photo). I have another one now, but if you find mine in a Cozumel cave, I'd love to have it back. Photo of a diver taking pictures in photo 4.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: If you are going to dive, then you need your scuba gear although people usually rent weights and you probably can't bring tanks with you either. Also a dive skin is a good idea - not that the water is cold enough to need thermal protection, but a dive skin will protect you from the sun also.

Miscellaneous: If your hotel doesn't supply bottled water, you can get water from the grocery stores or bodegas on the back streets, and it is a lot cheaper than buying it at the usual tourist spots. Buy a big jug and put the water into your smaller water bottles. The red thing on the dresser is a small softside cooler. Also a wind up alarm clock and a flashlight.

Pack for fun under the SUN

Luggage and bags: Bring as little as possible. Who wants to lug heavy bags around?

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Sandals
Sneakers/closed toe shoes for walking around in the underbrush, if you go off the beaten track.
Rain jackets always come in handy during inclement weather.
Swimsuits, duh.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: MOSQUITO REPELLENT - get the cream kind. Nothing else seemed to work.

Benadryl (I ALWAYS carry this with me now, just in case . . .)
Asprin/Tylenol/Advil for those days when the sun gives you a headache.
Tampons - hard to find abroad, ladies. OBs pack the smallest.

Photo Equipment: Disposable underwater camera for snorkeling.

After returning, have found out that serious photographers can purchase Ikelite housing to take cameras underwater. http://www.ikelite.com/

Lens tissue! (I forgot mine and managed to stick a thumb on the lens)

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: SUNBLOCK, WATERPROOF
If you'll be out all day, supposedly surfers use the Bullfrog brand.
Lip balm with sunblock. Your lips will burn too!
HAT
Lightweight pants and long-sleeved shirt to keep off the sun
Beach towel
Sunglasses
A beach-reading book or two

Miscellaneous: American dollars are accepted almost everywhere. Bring a wad with you. Realize you'll likely get better rates with pesos, though.

Snorkels, masks and fins can be bought at the dive shops on the island. However, you may be able to get a better deal at home. US Divers equipment seemed to work well.

Passport
Copies of your passport
Hotel information
Flight information (if you booked in advance, be sure to reconfirm)

The blue Aquapac for taking pictures under water

Miscellaneous: I have this tip on some of my other pages too, but there is nowhere it is more recommended than here! The snorkelling on Cozumel is amazing! And you will hate yourself for the rest of your life if you don't have anything for taking pictures under water. If you don't have an expencive underwater-camera, don't worry. Buy an Aquapac and put your camera inside. It can take pictures down to 2m and it works great. You could also buy a disposable underwater-camera, but pay a little bit more for the Aquapac and you can use it for many years.

Miscellaneous: Absolutely do not forget to pack sunglasses, a hat, film for your camera, sunblock, and anything else along these lines that you think you'll need. Sure you can buy it there if you forget it but I assure you that you will overpay dearly for it. You can buy silver jewelry for less than it costs to buy sunblock there.

Atlantic side

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you plan on going to the beach and going into the water, pack a cheap pair of canvas sneakers or those "swim slipper things". The island has a lot of exposed coral (especially the Atlantic side) and it is sharp.
