This airline, Skyservice, out of Toronto, has the cheapest fare to Canun/Mayan Riviera that I have found. You can't buy directly from them, you must purchase from a tour operator. I usually go to this web site, www.selloffairfares.com, however, www.sunquest.ca/ can also get you there. Selloffaifares is often quite busy.

We rented a golf cart...I'm not sure if this is because we were traveling with our parents or because we didn't want to have to worry about drinking and driving a scooter....Lots of people opt for renting scooters to get around the island but they can be dangerous if you not careful or in the right lane. We saw several close calls of people on scooters not aware of their surroundings. I guess I would recommend a golf cart unless your sure your not going to be drinking...

When you go to Isla Mujeres, then forget about the fast boat, eventhough almost everyone gets on it.
It's double price and you are stuck inside like sardines, with no chance to take photos.
The slow boat is cheap and allows you to take photos of the scenery.
And it's not that much slower any way.

To get to Isla Mujeres, I shared a taxi direct from Cancun airport to Puerto Juarez. Here you can catch a ferry for the 11km ride to the island. Once here, you will be able to find accomodations within walking distance of the port.

You may purchase a ferry and entrance ticket to Garrafon Park, which comes in the form of a plastic bracelet worn the duration of your stay there, and you are free to go and return on any scheduled ferry that day, giving you the option of deciding the length in hours of your stay.

getting to isla mujeres from cancun is really easy by taking a 25-minute ferry ride (approx $6) from punta juarez.
there are many options getting to punta juarez. from hotel zone, you can do one of the following:
- take a bus downtown then a cab to punta juarez (takes approx 45 mins-1 hr)
- take a bus all the way (cheapest option but more than 1 hr)
- take a cab all the way (approx $11-$15, your hotel has the fares posted) which will take you abt 15-20 mins
we opted for the third...small price to pay in my opinion unless you're really on a budget.
the picture was taken from the ferry ride...can you believe the color of the water?!?

the best way to go around isla mujeres is by renting one of those golf carts. rentals are available just outside the ferry terminal where you dock. golf carts are better than scooters bec they have shade and its more relaxing, in my opinion.
rentals range from: $35 upwards depending on the size of the cart (bigger wheels mean you can ride over sand) and the duration of your rental.
the closest a person like me can ever get to playing golf :-)

Sunday, January 16, Hans and I went to ISLA MUJERES for the day. We started off taking the R1 Bus, from the hotel zone(6.50 pesos or .65 U.S. You can use U.S. dollars but you will get change in pesos) to Puerto Juarez. Just look at the writing at the top of the bus if it says "Pto Juarez" This takes you to the GRAN PUERTO where you will take the ferry to Isla Mujeres.

After arriving by bus to Gran Puerto, we bought our tickets for the ULTRAMAR FERRY. Tickets were 70 pesos or $7.00 U.S. return.
There is continuous departures every 30 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to midnight.
Pop and bottled water were available on the boat for 10 pesos or $1.00 U.S.

There are many ways to get around Isla Mujeres. The most popular mode seems to be the golf carts. We were told we could rent the carts for $45.00 for the day.
Other modes of transportation were--bicycles, scooters, taxis and my favourite --by foot.
