    The best snorkelling on Isla Mujeres was at South Point beach. Make this a stop on your tour of the south end of the island.

    You will probably end up staying at the north end of the island, I recommend renting a bicycle for the day and riding all the way to the south end of the island, about 7kms each way. Here you will find a much more rugged coastline and even a view of Cancun in the distance.

    More scary than it looks!
    From atop a hill at Garrafon Park, strap yourself in and hang on to the cable pulley whilst you slide down over the sea.

    Don't wear sandal which you might kick off and lose in the water!!

  • the poh nha hostel can arrange one day snorkling trips by boat.
    it's usually half day trips with a bunch of other backpackers.

    First time snorklers take a local boat ride.
    I had never snorkled before and they helped me out.
    It was so fun.
    When we got to the spot they put crackers in the water and the fish just went crazy.
    I am glad I did not chicken out like Mike.
    Before you get on one of these boats make sure they have safety equipment.

    You can bring your own snorkel gear but mine was cheap and kept breaking.
    The owners of the boat had their own.
