Coco Bongos is the most amazing night out ever. I stayed at the catalonia Riviera Maya resort and it cost about £90-100 for 2 of us to get VIP tickets to go to Coco Bongos and we recommend the VIP as the non VIP tickets save you about £15 each but you'll be crambed in the downstairs and be paying for drinks and queing etc. With VIP you get picked up at 2200 from the hotel and on the coach on the way there get given tequillas, get off and a short 5 min walk to the club and get a complimentary drink in the que. Another tequilla as you wait to go through security and then you meet your bar tender/waiter. He shows you up to the 2nd level where you have the best front on views in the building and he is your waiter the whole night with branded drinks the whole night through. Completely unlimited drinks all night and high quality drinks and great service. On arrival to the club there's dancers etc. enetertaining you until the show starts at approx 2300 and then it's all out madness. The club is cross between a nightclub/theatre/west end show and semi live rock/pop concert with huge video screens, amazing lighting that is literally blindingly bright at times and with constant raining of confetti, balloons, lasers shining and professional dancers and even beetlejuice and the mini mask characters dancing and entertaining you. There's even a mini circus like show going on too. At the end of the night they even give you bottles of water for the ride on the coach back to the resort. The films they set the theme with are men in black, spiderman, thor, tron and many more. The music tribute acts include Katy Perry, Beyonce, the beatles, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and many more and there's the club and dance music in between especially the pre show party and the finale to the night, this was absoloutely banging and a friend of mine who was a reasl heavy metal/rocker loved it as he said by that time he was so drunk it was awesome anyway. It really is an excellent night out and is a guarantee that I will be going back there when I go back to Mexico. By far the best night out in Mexico and everyone I've met that has been there said the same thing. I'm not predominantly somebody that likes that sort of thing but when it's as good as this it's hard to knock it.
Dress Code: I wasn't informed if there was a specific dress code but I did notice nobody there had hats or caps. I wore smart trainers and shorts and short sleeved shirt. It seemed quite relaxed, so I'd say smart casual.
The entertainment team at the Hotel Catalonia were very talented. They entertained us everyday, in the morning was water aerobics, which was, keep fit with a bit of comedy, throughout the afternoon there were beach sports and in the evening was a stage production in the theatre. The theatre productions included an international show, comedy show and a Mexican night. The highlight of the week was when they built a ghost walk where as you went through ghosts and ghouls jumped out at you. The walk led into the theatre where they then put on a ghost play about a dream, it was entertaining.
Dress Code: CASUAL
The resident Mexican Mariachi Band would be in the restaurants, bars and hotel grounds almost every night!
At first it was quite embarassing, but you got used to them, they were enjoying theirselves and so you had to !
