BE AWARE OF THE DRAGONS - BRING REPELLANT

Luggage and bags: Take one bag just for the beach.
The sand is very fine and really stick to everything.
You kind of want to be sand free when you are visiting the ruins or dinning at night.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Take some long sleeve wardrobe and long pants. After sunset it gets chilly. Especially that the wind is quite strond sometimes.
I had only one long sleeve shirt and after few days it was too dirty to wear.
Also clothes don't dry so fast in Mexico (don't know why). If you will hang something out after 2 pm....you will find it still wet at 11 am :-(

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: You really need your suntan lotion - 15 will do.
But the most important you need your MOSQUITO REPELANT.
Puerto Morelos is located between the mangrove (swamp) and the Ocean. Between 4pm and 6pm you can get about 100 bites just on your legs (I did).
Good news, after 6pm mosquitos fly away (most of them anyway)
Long pants ans long sleeves help a lot.
Mosquitos in Mexico don't carry any desease.
You can buy mosquito repellant in local farmacy.

Photo Equipment: There was no digital photo place in Puerto Morelos in 2007. So make sure you have enough space on your memory card, because there is no place to burn the disk.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Good idea to bring a towel and your own umbrella as there is no such things to buy in local stores. Also wind is sometimes really strong and it is nice to lay behind the umbrella on the beach and not get the sand in your eyes ( as I said, the sand is like a powder and it sticks to everything)

Miscellaneous: Actually if you are really sensitive about dirty shower courtain in your hotel (they usually have some mold on them) it is a great idea to bring your own cheap ($9 in US) courtain and handle the moldy one back to the hotel stuff.
For those of you who pay less than $60 per night and are really sensitive......I would travel with your own toilet seat.....ours looked as it had 200 years....or maybe previous visitor had very very rough hair on their culo ;-)
However if traveling with your own toilet seat sounds to crazy.....I would just sanitize it really well the first day.
