The Mezzanine is a boutique hotel with a fantastic Thai (!) restaurant and bar. The entire facility is well-designed and the staff is great.
The Mezzanine is about as upscale as you can get in Tulum in terms of nightlife -- They generally play good electronica, and throw monthly parties that go into the wee hours of the morning. On party nights, this *is* the only destination in Tulum, but there is no big-city attitude – everyone come to have a good time, and does.
The hotel is owned by a family of Australians who we chanced to meet during one of our visits. The family and their kids were charming, and they made us feel like part of their family, referring us to several places we hadn't discovered on our own. Thanks to Jeff, Chris, John and Brendan!
Drinks are a tiny, tiny bit more expensive here than some other places, but the atmosphere was worth it. DO eat here, too. We couldn't believe how good the Thai was...Try the crispy Thai fish with beans (it's not on the menu, but our host Jeff turned us on to it). It's great!

There is not a lot of night life in Tulum as tourism has been slow to arrive in this small community. That of course is part of its charm in my opinion. However if your the type that simply must have nightlife here is the lowdown on whats available. Generally on Friday and Saturday nights there will be a beach part at one of the more upscale cabana's on the beach. Its usually the Mezzaine Cabana that has the parties but they were hit hard by the hurricane in Aug. 2007. Best way to find out whats happening is to ask around and or walk the beach at night as you will see the lights and bonfires from whatever party is going down. The parties can actually draw a fair amount of people depending on the season. Some of the bar/clubs in town will advertise a dance on Saturday nights. You will see flyers on telephone poles advertising and the have people who pass out the flyers as well. However the one I walked by was hipping and hopping in terms of the music but the club was pretty empty. What I will say is this, if your looking to meet people look no further than the bar at your cabana, thats where most people hang out at nights. Nothing like having a drink while looking out at the moonlit beach. In my opinion thats all the nightlife you need! Theme: Other

Bar and nightclub on the main road in Tulum. I went on a Saturday night and they had live salsa music.. pretty great atmosphere.. dancing spilled out onto the sidewalk

Great ambiance in this bar it was the most fun we had in Tulum - Nice crowd, with lots of eye candies, generally younger from all around the world mixed with locals they begin to come in around 11:00 p.m. until they close. There are two bars but the party happens on the upstairs bar which is on a large rooftop for dancing under the stars with live music and an amazing DJ - There are no cover and drinks are reasonably priced but got to try the mojito or caipinriha. Watch out for the rounds of Tequilla that are offered by this hot bartender - you can't say no to her but you might regret it in the morning.
