Zamas: Very nice Italian in the Hotel Zone

It is at the south end of the first section of hotels at the end of the pavement. You can either eat al fresco or under a roof with the sound of the ocean and some very pleasant mexican-influenced Italian foods. The Guacamole is excellent and who can say no to margaritas. Rumor has it the pizzas hit the spot, too. In the evening, they have entertainment of sorts, as good as it gets in Tulum (which really isn't all that good). I listened to an techno-reggae new age group that at least didn't drive me out of the restaurant.

Favorite Dish: Like everywhere, the guacamole and margaritas. (Sorry, I know that's not too helpful.)

This place is awesome! Its an Idylic little resort on the coast near Pueblo Tulum with the best resturant in the Mayan Riviera by far. the food is increadibly fresh and delicious. It is said that no one ever gets sick here!

Try the Local Mayan specials...and stay a few sure to book early though for lodging. The word is out about Zamas.

    Que Fresco!: Que Bueno!

Que Fresco! at the Zamas Hotel is a very popular place in Zona Hotelera. It is perfectly situated on the beach as it curves out on a small point. You can sit at any of the tables and look out upon the beach and the ocean horizon. There are several tables under a covered canopy, while there are other directly on the sand, giving that laid back vibe. Most nights they have live music on the small stage. The band that performed while I was there was quite good with a trumpet and saxaphone player. The service was pretty good, even the manager came by the table to make sure everything was good.

Favorite Dish: The food was pretty good. The tortillas chips were homemade and came with fresh salsa and a picante chili paste. The fresh guacamole was not bad but not stupendous; I had hoped for better. The margaritas were quite good. I had the chicken enchiladas, which were good, but I really liked the salsa verde that covered the enchiladas.

By far, the setting of this place is best part. I loved sitting and watching the waves and then gazing up at the stars. The food is pleasingly sufficient and the music is lively. This is a great place to come if you are with a group of friends and/or family.
