Swimming in the warm waters of Xel Ha lagoon isn't energetic -- but don't miss it!
    .
It seems to have been developed more as a family recreational site since my visit. See the website below for information!
    .
Another related attraction to visit on the Myan Riviera is Xcaret Eco Park. You'll find more information at their website:

  • I didn't do this, but do some research on Scuba Diving in Las Cabaņas, looks like an awesome place to practice scuba diving as most of the business there are focused to this activity.

Cenote Scuba diving at Hidden Worlds
  • By paintedcave on December 22, 2005

  • We went to Hidden Worlds to explore some cenotes. The scuba diving was a total of $75 per person for a one tank dive with all the gear.

It was a very unique experience and the stalactites/mites were just beautiful. Especially with the sunlight peeking in from exposed holes to the surface. Tetras and fresh water shrimp are the only living things down there (that I saw).

The staff was friendly. They filmed an IMAX film there, but you aren't allowed to scuba into that area (too dangerous). It is a bit unnerving to enter some parts of the cenote where there is no air above the water (totally submerged cave). But overall, the diving was very easy. You were never 200 feet from sunlight, and never deeper than 20 feet down.

Don't bother with a camera unless you have a flash. None of my pictures came out. Bummer!

Bring some money. It's only $15 to rent the snorkel, fins, mask.

  • Directions: Hop in a collectivo in Pueblo Tulum and simply say "Hidden Worlds" to the driver. He'll drop you on the side of the highway in front of the place and ask for $1 per person.

One of the top beaches I have been to, even with the crowds... where else do you get the chance to swim in turquoise waters right under some spectacular mayan ruins? Only at Tulum. A fantastic beach - possibly better if you come early in the day, before the buses arrive.

Bring a swimsuit and a towel - bring a hat and sunscreen, too, and water - as inside the archaeological area none is sold. There's also very little shade.

Playa paraiso - Paradise beach... the name is truly accurate... the beach is wonderfully wide and white, the sea has all the sahdes of turquoise... a real perfect beach for swimming, relaxing, enjoying the scenery.

Swimsuit and towel - as well as sunscreen and a hat. you don't need to bring drinks or food - there's a small palapa bar which has everything you might need

In the center of Tulum, located off main street, close to the bus station, there is a public park. It is lit at night and has a basketball court and a dirt soccer field. There is always people playing both on a nightly basis. I have been able to participate in playing pickup basketball and soccer with the locals and have found it to be fun and unique way to mingle with the locals!
