The House of Halach Uinic is not a temple but a residence. Halach Uinic means First Lord so it is thought that this palce used to belong tothe ruler of Tulum city. Sadly much of this building has vanished, leaving only the perimeter walls.
Around the walls there are stone benches that served both as seats and beds for the family. At the back of the building is an area where the family held religious ceremonies while over the entrance, to protect the house, there is a statue of the descending god. A small tatched roof has now been built to protect it from both sun and water.
The House of the Halach Uinik stands on a platform and has an entrance with four columns and a pillar. In the rear room there is a shrine against the rear wall. There is also a direct entrance to this shrine room in back. The passage on the left leads to a set of stairs, also around the back. The thatch awning was constructed to prevent further erosion from water and sun damage to the carved figure beneath it.
It is hard to see ,but this building does have an entrance with four Columns and one Pillar.
There were more Columns added for more
roof support.
The awning you see it there to protect the stucco figure underneath it.

A better look in this picture of the thatched roof over the Stucco figure that is underneath
it and this is neccesary to protect it from deteriating from the elements.
