Reed roof teraces...

You will find some cheap, some more expensive food all over the park. The best place to eat in the park is by the beach. Sitting nice outside under a reed roof with life music you will enjoy this fine atmosphere. My favourite dish there was seafood. Something I like everywhere.
At the entrance is also a big restaurant, but inside. Maybe an idea when it is raining.
Of course you find a Mc Donald’s here as well. As providers from junk food I don’t think there is a place on earth where they are not well represented. But at least, it is cheap...

street near 5thAvenue

To go shopping at Playa del Carmen, it's only 10$ USD. It's better to leave the hotel around 16:00 because it's not too hot. The 5th Avenue you'll find many stores to make bargain. Don't be shy to bargain, mexicans like it.

Xcaret

One of the many optional activities in Xcaret is a swim in the underground rivers. Well, don't waste your time in that. You will wear a life jacket, dive, and follow the other in a dark and narrow water line, pushing and pulling the people around you.

There's nothing to see, and some criterious openings in the way provide light enough to soften the adventure.

Na! I would rather stay in daylight, but, with kids... couldn't escape.
