TTP is the bus station, there you an find a lot of bus lines that can take you to almost all mexico, i recomend the bussiness class always, like ETN , TAP or Turistar Ejecutivo, Other good lines are Primer Plus, Omnibus de Mexico & Sendor, there are other lines that are satisfactory for the service and price like, Estrella Blanca or futura, If you want to go to Real de Catorce look in Estrella Blanca

Tlaxcalilla is the most popular place to buy crafts, is located in the Plaza del Carmen in front to the Church.
Casa del Artesano is near to Hotels Real Plaza & Panorama, on carranza street #483.
You can go o the markets to find some others thigs like candys, most famous and located in downtown is Republica Market, you can also go to Hidalgo Market they are really near.
What to buy: * Queso de tuna, an acid candy
* Rebozos de Santa María
* Crafts made with corn leafs (Casa del artesano)
What to pay: If you look for good works maybe it result expensive, but you can find cheap things at the markets

If you arrive by bus, you will see taxis outdoors, but attention they are expensive than the others, it's better to walk to the highway, (just some steps) and take a cheaper taxi there.
Unique Suggestions: Always look for a taximeter installed, if the taxi doesn't have one is better to wait for one with taximeter, almost all the taxis have one, they are authorized to handle 4 personnes only , for your security always take the back seats.
There is a bus system transportation, 3 different kinds, the best are the green or yellow busses, the oters are older, the yellow line offers the same line as the olds, but greens are different and they have specific routes to the north, west etc. the price is around $3.50 pesos.
Fun Alternatives: If your hotel is in downtown and you find the taxi too high in cost, you can take a bus that will take you to downtown 10 minutes from there at least, at the bakside of the TTP (Bus station), to get there, get outdoors take to the right looking to the highway, and you will find a little street to cross the building, there you can take a bus to get downtown just ask if they go to the alameda, (*Vas a la alameda?) or look at the windshield they always write centro or alameda.
Any question about the routes write me an e-mail.

Luggage and bags: It depends on you =)
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: It's a good idea to have tennis shoes for walking, or hiking boots, I recomend the boots because you can use it in the city and if you go around like to Real de Catorce.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: There is not a high risk to catch a disease here, except because the coolwind at nights or if you eat in some not-sure places, maybe you only need a pepto bismol.
Photo Equipment: A good camera, no flash required for outdoors, a tripoid maybe, but you dont need a special equipment.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: A good jacket, in san luis potosi, except the huasteca region, nights are cold so is a good idea to have a good jacket if you go on camping, specially if you go to the altiplano (matehuala, venado or real de Catorce).
Miscellaneous: The weather is cold all night and part of the morning in the capital city, but from 11:00 to 4 pm is a kind of hot, thats because its like a dessert zone, in almost all the year, except in winter when you can find very low temperatures almost all day
