This is probably not the best tip since I am not that big on shopping. I would say go for the different food flavors rather than material goods. I had some delicious empanadas of a meat, raisin, chile sauce. Mmmmmmm, that the best thing to shop for.

As someone else had mentioned, Real is beautiful but has street vendors starting from the entrance to the center of town. What can you get? Plenty of candles for "San Pancho" or milagros (small metal parts for a retablo or nicho or other religious object) by the handful - and right outside the church, too. There is also quite a bit of candy - the tuna (prickly pear) queso (cheese) is probably the most unique to the area but also your standard coconut, cajeta, and all kind of frutas en cubierto (sugar-glazed type) especially my favorite camote. There is a section near the plaza that has your typical homemade beaded & macrameed jewelry from friendly folks that I assume are not native to the area - I heard about 4 different languages spoken.
