checking around no one certain hostel is open. Go to whasupmaz.com for a 'high' end hotel on Stone Island. There are a few hotels on Stone Island.. the place , Mazatlan, is empty. Everything is a deal. If you come here, stay at the LaSiesta in old town for a night. Inside room $30 us, speak with Cynthia011526699812640. From there you can ferry to...

Gus Gus is by far my favorite thing in Mazatlan. Great bar with excellent service and great prices!!!!! The beach is the best!!!!!The trip to stone Island was Awesome!! We had fun banana boating! The people of Mazatlan are second to none. Everyone goes out of their way to be helpful (and sell you a trinket or two) but they are genuine and very...

on cruiseship days there is a lottery for the guys and they seem to raise prices! Eco-taxi is cheaper and safer! NEVER get in a cab in Mazatlan without an agreed price! also if you are on a ship, you must have three things: !) a 30 pesos phone card for Telemex, most phones don't take coins,if they do it's pesos, so if you have a problem you are...

Definitely NOT my favorite thing - you'll always find vendors on the beach, selling woven baskets, wood carvings, jewelry, and more. They approach people and ask them to look at their wares, which can get old pretty fast. However, I have more respect for people trying to sell you something than for the panhandlers I encounter in my own city, asking...

Lety's Restaurant on Stone Island is a spot that we go every time we go to Mazatlan. It's a very relaxing day on a semi secluded beach that sets you back a few decades to the way Mexico used to be. We end up having a few drinks, a great meal & relax the afternoon away. We usually go as a group of 12 to 18 at a time. It makes for a fun day of just...

We always try to either be on our balcony or on the beach when the sun goes down. I've seen some of the most beautiful sunsets when holidaying in Mazatlan. The sun drops quickly over the ocean & then you get a red glow over the horizon. The best sunsets are usually when there are a few clouds to the west.

The beach between the Zona Dorada and town is often called "the locals' beach". It's rockier and less crowded, and sometimes you'll find a few locals catching a bit of wave action on their surfboards. It’s a nice place to go for a walk if you want some peace and quiet and a break from the tourist crowd.

Mazatlan ('land of the deer') was originally settled by the Spaniards in 1531, and was a major port and village on the Pacific coast. Before the Spanish, it was settled by the native Indians, called the Totorames. They were hunters and fisherman, and adept at making clay vases and figures. The Spanish put an end to all of that. A Spaniard named...
