Our family went to Ponchos twice. Once on a Thursday night and then on a Saturday night. On Thursday night we had the Mexican plate,Mango Salmon and my son had the BLT. We were greeted before we came in by Marco, who ended up being not only our server,but good friend by the end of the night. We were given the traditional chips and salsa on both nights,but were also surprised with stuff peppers! They were stuffed with the usual but also Mackerel,which I never had before (and not being a big fish eater,loved it. We all enjoyed our meals on both nights. But the first night we treated like we were at "friends" where we all laughed and had a great time with everyone. We went to the Ponchos near the Golden Zone across from the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan (we were staying at Emerald Bay,so it was a short walk across the street after taking the shuttle). We also received our order in record time,so if you are on a schedule and want something great to eat or drink,this is the place for you.
Favorite Dish: Everything we had was great!
Most of the restaurants in Mazatlan were poorly maintained shacks with expensive prices for meals! WHY... am I paying for the crusty "ambience" of the place? You also won't find a lot of variety on the menus, in fact it seemed like most of the restaurants had the same entrees that other restaurants offered!
Not all of them were disappointing though. I would recommend Panchos, a restaurant located right on the beach and very well maintained, good food and it's a perfect place to watch the sunset!
Ponchos is a restaurant that sits right on the beach, so you can eat, drink, and party with the tropical feeling surrounding you. Mariachi bands (guitar, bass, violin, and sometimes a trumpet) vie for your money to play the songs of Mexico. Ole!
Favorite Dish: The Mexican Plate give you the sample taste of all that is traditional Mexican fare. Order either a Pacifico Beer (local) or a Margarita to go along with the food and your taste buds will be satisfied. The real benefit is the price. Mexican exchange rates make purchases easy on the wallet. So, eat up, drink up, party hardy, and viva Mexico.
Panchos is right in the heart of the Golden Zone and has an awesome view of the beach. The seafood is fresh and delicous. The service is very good the waiters are busy but eager to please. Sometimes there is a line up to get in but let me tell you it is worth it. They bring salsa and fresh tortillas as well as jalapeno poppers for appetizers. The tortilla soup is delicous. I love to sit there and watch the waves and take it all in. The crashing waves the ocean breeze it is all there for you to enjoy! Stop in and see for yourself when you are in Mazatlan it will not disappoint!!
Favorite Dish: Surf and Turf giant shrimp and steak..one low price!!!
Great view and great service. The French toast and fruit plate are awesome!! You must go there at least once for breakfast while staying in Mazataln. It is right in the middle of the golden zone.
Favorite Dish: Freanch Toast
Every year we are in Mazatlan, we always seem to spend most of our time there at Panchos, the lunches are great and the price is perfect. I can't remember the exact name of the dish, but it is the Snapper and it is grilled to perfection. It may be different than most people are used to as you get the WHOLE fish brought out to you and you just pick the meat off the bones, but it is melt in your mouth good.
As many have said all the food at Panchos is great and the service is superb and the view is one not to be missed especially at sunset
You can't go wrong with whatever you try at Pancho's (correct spelling), located on the beach between Hotel Playa Mazatlán and Suites las Flores. We've eaten there consistently for 14 years! Breakfasts are reasonable, and dinners often include free jalapeño poppers as appetizers; when Pancho himself or a capitán brings you a free after dinner drink (kahlua & cream) or coconut ice cream, a regular may tell you that it's his way of saying thanks to the gringos and locals who have made his restaurant so popular and successful!
Favorite Dish: Try "Pancho's Shrimp" for prawns wrapped in bacon smothered in a special cheese sauce & a jumbo margarita! Chuletas (smoked pork chops) are huge & delicious! Pollo a la parilla (1/2 grilled chicken) has an amazing non-duplicable flavor. The mexican plate is authentic, & the fish platter for 2 could be for 4. Many meals $5-10;
Panchos is right on the beach and has a very cozy feeling to it. The ambiance is nice and the view is great. As far as the food goes, it is delicious! Everything on the menu sounded good. They have all kinds of wonderful Mexican dishes.
Favorite Dish: I think it was called the Mexican Plate. It had all kinds of stuff on it. (Taco,burrito,tostada,etc,) It was so so so good. The only drawback is that I ate so much my stomach hurt. The plate is huge!
