NidArt - Definitely worth a visit....
If you are down at the Plazuela Machada, it is definitely worth making a short side-trip to a wonderful art gallery/store called NidArt - it is actually the home of an artist couple and their family, and they have dedicated part of their home to their gallery/store where they display their own works, as well as those of artists from all over Mexico!
Their specialty is leather masks, and the day that we visited we were treated to a demonstration of their unique mask making technique, one which they developed many years ago, using a combination of techniques learned in Morocco and Italy. They use different hides, pig skin, fish skin, goat skin, etc...quite fascinating! The wife was extremely gracious and very friendly, and took a lot of time out of her busy schedule to explain the whole process to us, which we greatly appreciated! Definitely a gallery worth visiting, and absolutely no pressure to buy anything which is very nice for a change!! A must-see....
The following is an exerpt taken from their website:What is Nidart and where is it?
Nidart is a nest (group) of artisans located in a XIX century house in the heart of the Old Mazatlan, next to the Angela Peralta Theater.
Nidart was opened by Rak, Loa and their children in 1992 as a family workshop where they made and offered their art crafts: mainly leather masks, faces and pins, clay figurines ("the little people of clay and leather") and their children's art work, besides the homemade bread that they shared with the visitors.
During the past years, Nidart has exhibited the artwork from different locals, national and foreign artists and artisans.
Today Nidart as a nest (group) of artisans That offers a large variety of handcrafts and art.Related to:

Riding on the Beach
Ginger's horses offers 1-11/2 hour beach rides on the Mazatlan beach. The horses were very well behaved and the guide was a bit rough around the edges was nice enough to let you run down the beach at your own pace. Ginger, the woman who runs the business who is fluent in both english and spanish is tough as nails but one of the nicest people i have met. It was a beautiful ride that consisted of a trail through a forest, out to the beach and then back through a coconut grove. Great fun!!!!Related to:

One of the many great things that Mazatlan has to offer is superb dental tourism that's more than worth every penny.
Aside from the lushes beaches and great sights, Mazatlan is slowly becoming a dental tourism capital of the world, one great dental clinic that caters to dental tourism in Mexico is Mexican Dental Vacation in the Golden Zone of Sinaloa, Mazatlan.
This clinic is owned by a Canadian and the facilities and supplies are purchased from the US, strictly adhering to US and Canadian dentistry standards.
Most people coming to their dental clinic do so for cosmetic dentistry procedures which is a more affordable way to get a great smile, I for one experienced their great service and I give them five stars for that.
What I like best about my dental tourism in Mazatlan, is I got to use a local mobile phone (which I found useful contacting my friends around), and the relaxing massage before my treatment - all these, courtesy of this dental clinic.
On some treatment, they claim that you could save as much as 75-80 percent off the costs in the US. I was happy to save 50% on my dental costs.
It's good to know that you could save a bunch on dental treatments, especially if the quality isn't jeopardized!Related to:

Isla de la Piedra (Stone Island)
Stone Island is right next to the Cruise Terminal so its a great thing to do if you come in on a cruise. There are tons of restaurants/bars along the 20 mile coastline, ATV beach riding, banana boat rides, horseback rides, fishing, snorkeling, sailing, and I'm sure a lot more.
When you get off the Cruise ship, take a left out of the gates and follow that main road, Emilio Barragan, till you come to the end of the paved portion. Cross it to get to the gravel road and follow that a couple hundred yards till you get to the Ferry Terminal(a shack). Take a water taxi which is about 3 dollars when we were there, round trip. Takes about 3 minutes to get there. As you get off the boat three men with huge iguanas will probably meet you and try to place them on you and take pictures for a fee. If your not into it, just say no politely and walk away, but we did it and just tipped them a couple dollars and were very happy we did. It was very cool having those giant lizards on us. Their skin is so soft!Related to:

Los Osuna Tequilla Tour
Well if you are a fan of partying AND old people, you will love this one. An air conditioned van, driven and guided by a seemingly knowledgeable local takes you out to a small village about 30 minutes outside of Mazatlan, where you tour a tequillaria and get to "sample" as much tequilla as you think you can handle.Related to:

Patricia Belle Sailing cruise
There is a 82 foot sailboat in the Mazatlan marina called the Patricia Belle. She was constructed by the skipper and he offers day sails packages to various locations. A wonderful way to spend the day. NOT the commercial 'packageed' tour but a real sailing adventure on a friendly crews boat.Related to:
