    The so called "Jungle tour"

I took a jungle tour to mean...a jungle tour, not a boat ride to a coconut plantation through a "jungle". The scenery was still nice, but it wasn't what I expected. Getting dive bombed by the pelicans on the boat trip back to the harbor was cool, made for great pictures.

Unique Suggestions: Just expect to be disappointed and charged extra for the other things the offer to do...like horseback riding on the beach. You're are kinda trapped, as they bring you in by boat, you leave when everyone else does.

  • Free Tour, Free Breakfast.. Neither are free.

Free Breakfast... for which you pay a deposit which they never can seem to get back to you. So you more than paid for that free breakfast.
Free Tour... presented by a local business who takes you to their business and encourages you to buy real estate, or jewelry, etc at their business. Dodge any free tour.

Unique Suggestions: Just say no... don't go. It costs you time or money.

Fun Alternatives: Check with a real travel agency, not the hotel's. Have them book you for some real tours.

I guess I can't complain too much because it only cost $15/per person including lunch. You get on a big catamaran and cruise over. When you get off, there's an open bar which is nice. Lunch is served pretty late so you may as well take a long walk or try and do some activities. There was supposed to be snorkeling but there was no place to get equipment, plus the water was pretty cold. Colder than on the beaches of Mazatlan. The horseback rides were about 15 minutes from what I could tell. Then they take you on a bay cruise after the island which was kind of cool because you see the coastline from the ocean.

Unique Suggestions: Bring your own snorkel equipment if you want to snorkel.

Fun Alternatives: Stay on the beach in Mazatlan! The water is warmer.

    Sealion Island

We signed up for a trip to Stone Island. The trip was to include a visit to the Sealion Island. The trip expectations were built up to be a large island with thousands of sea lions.

From the picture - what you see is what you get.

I can it a tourist trap because don't sign up for the tour if it is the sea lions that you are interested in..

Unique Suggestions: It was part of a tour and did include free drinks.....so make the best of that part..

You can see Bullfighting here (yes, we hate it, but we visited it once in order to have our own opinion). We left after the first fight and hate bullfights even more since…
Nevertheless, there is a bullring (Plaza de Toros) on Rafael Buelna, about a mile from the Golden Zone. From December through early April, bullfights are held here every Sunday.

Thought that the Stone Island/Booze Cruise was not worth the money spent. Nice beaches, but no better than the Golden Zone. Got to choose between 2 of the following: snokeling (heard it was murky), horseback trail ride (saw it was way too short), went on the banana boat ride (was alright a little too short), also went on Coconut Plantation Tour (ride on an open trailer behind tractor) this took a little while with a ride through a village not much discussion on the actual plantation.
