Nayarit is the next door neighbor of...

by joiwatani Written Aug 10, 2012

Favorite thing: Nayarit is about a two-hour drive from Puerto Vallarta. It is the neighbor of Jalisco, another state of Mexico.

Nayarit is where Punta de Mita is and the famous Islas Marietas. This is the state where most of the products like beadworks, clothing, etc sold in Puerto Vallarta are coming from.

Nayarit offers great experience to travellers because this is such a very cool place and it is cooler because of its people.

Fondest memory: Definitely, going to the Marietas Islands is the coolest thing I had done this year. For the first time in my life, I had seen the Blue Footed Boobie, which I had only seen watching on the National Geographic Channel or read on the National Geographic Magazine. I didn't only see one but saw thousands of them and had seen them nesting on the rocks!

These birds have different colors of their feet depending on how old they are. Thet have brown, white, yellow, pink and blue feet!

This is also a place where you can see thousands of pelicans.

This is a place to be when you love photography. I took thousands of pictures of the birds!

Top 10 Paddleboarding Beaches: Nayarit

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Located only 27.5 miles (44.3 km) north of Puerto Vallarta and just past Punta Mita, Sayulita is a quiet enclave with a big paddle following. The area hosts the Punta Sayulita Longboard & Stand Up Paddle Classic, which is becoming a big event for North American paddlers. However, if you'd rather paddle the Atlantic side of Mexico, Playa del Carmen is also a great spot to start.
