This restaurant is very nice. I've come here for various family events. There are salons or 'ballrooms' you can rent for your private occasions. Mostly my diners here have been private but I do remember eating in the general area too! The ambience if of course Mexican but the food is international. There is a very warm feeling to this place. Nice decor. Sometimes there are mariachi playing with good taste.. other times there is a band. What I like most of course are the private dinners!
Note: Sometimes gets full quickly.. besides the parking at the entrance.. there is parking across the street.. there is always waiters or 'bus boys' from the restaurant helping you out. (no need to tip them)
Lonches el Popo is somewhat famous in Nuevo Laredo. They have now expanded into Laredo, Texas also. They have been around for 54 years! The place is small.. it is nothing fancy but what they lack in decor and ambience is definitely made up in their lunches. It is usual, it is friday evening and noone feels like cooking so what does the family do? Drive up to Lonches del Popo! It is a small rectangle kitchen.. you go up and order your food and just wait.. or you can eat in their patio. (i've never done this because it is ALWAYS full). It is in the outdoor and pretty much like a street vendor.. but no no, here the food is so much better at a cheap price too! Lines are tremendous here.. but that just shows how good it is! Can't leave Nuevo Laredo without some!
Note: They open latee at night!
Favorite Dish: It has to be lonches de ternera! It is their best! It is a sort of 'hamburger' with shredded meat, lettuce, tomato, onion, and musturd. The bread is softer than a hamburger.. here it is called a 'lonche' .. which of course comes from the english word 'lunch'. (it means lunch but this is a 'snack' for the evening usually). Each lonche is around $1.70 !!
Home style cooking. A good place for breakfast and lunch. Clean. Friendly staff. This is a busy restaurant and apparently a favorite with locals and tourist alike.
Favorite Dish: Breakfast is plentiful with lots of options. The coffee is fresh and good. This is a good spot to have coffee and warm up on a cold day.
The Cadillac is a large, newly constructed restaurant and bar which will rival anything found in New Orleans and most other USA cities. It is on par with Applebees, Fridays and etc. The atmosphere is fine for families with children and anyone and everyone else.
Favorite Dish: All of the food at the Cadillac is excellent.
El Pollo Loco is a small restaurant on a busy part of town. Its inside is yellow... everything is yellow. It is a friendly, clean, smoke-free, atmosphere with great service. The roasted chicken is absolutely delicious... you get a choice of sauces that you can serve yourself, including the best guacamole hot sauce ever. Great corn tortillas and totopos (chips.)
