Nuevo Laredo Things to Do

  • Bull Fights

The Plaza de Toros "Lauro Luis Longoria" in Nuevo Laredo attracts international bullfighting talent. Check out their website for their current schedule. Remember, seats in the shade are more expensive. The sun will cook you, even in February. But don't worry, there's beer to cool you down.My buddies and I had a great time, although the score was a...

  • Shopping

Nuevo Laredo is one of the best places to shop. As you walk down the streets, it's just store after store with prices you can not beat. They have so many items to choose from! Lots of nicknacks, clothing, pottery, jewelry (lots of sterling silver), you name it, they got it! Lots of people will be on the streets with carts selling items and don't...

Just watch your head, don't let them poop on you. It's relaxing, check it out.

Nuevo Laredo Restaurants

  • For a great time...

This restaurant is very nice. I've come here for various family events. There are salons or 'ballrooms' you can rent for your private occasions. Mostly my diners here have been private but I do remember eating in the general area too! The ambience if of course Mexican but the food is international. There is a very warm feeling to this place. Nice...

  • Can't Leave Nvo. Laredo without them!!

Lonches el Popo is somewhat famous in Nuevo Laredo. They have now expanded into Laredo, Texas also. They have been around for 54 years! The place is small.. it is nothing fancy but what they lack in decor and ambience is definitely made up in their lunches. It is usual, it is friday evening and noone feels like cooking so what does the family do?...

  • Very Busy Short Order Restaurant

Home style cooking. A good place for breakfast and lunch. Clean. Friendly staff. This is a busy restaurant and apparently a favorite with locals and tourist alike. Breakfast is plentiful with lots of options. The coffee is fresh and good. This is a good spot to have coffee and warm up on a cold day.

Nuevo Laredo Nightlife

  • Lesbian Hot Spot

This is a favorite hang out for both local and tourist lesbians. It is also frequented by many straight singles and couples. It is a friendly bar for everyone. There are no overt sexual activities taking place in the bar. It is a place to meet new friends. None

  • Classy Bar and Restaurant (Casino soon)

All new and very classy restaurant and bar. Excellent dining for familes. Without a doubt, this is the nicest restaurant and bar in Nuevo Laredo. The manager told me that an adjoining casino will open in the spring of 2006. This is a high class joint so act respectable. None

  • THE place for single males

This is a friendly place where there is always a crowd. There always seems to be an abundance of single women here and they are searching for single men. This is the best bar I have found in Nuevo Laredo. It is better than Boys Town. No dress code.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There's a website where they show the flow of the bridges in both sides, I am still thinking that the best way to go through Nuevo Laredo is not going through Nuevo Laredo at all.

Try the close border crossings and you will notice a difference:

Nuevo Laredo Shopping

  • Hammocks

Now the Hammock prices range due to quality and seller. Some one might be trying to sell you a hammock for about $15 while you can get it with someone else at a price of $7 or even $6!For example, my buddy Matt got his hammock for $15 while I got mine for $7 and the other Matt got his for $6! The second matt and I got ours from the same person, but...

  • Piñata!!!

There are many shops where you can buy piñatas! You can get them practically ANYWHERE! Driving through El Centro of Nuevo Laredo you can look to either side of you and see Piñatas hanging here and there. Piñatas!!! $8 - $20 U.S. Dollars depending on the size, quality, etc. (I've seen some pretty nice looking Nemos) ;-)

  • Downtown Shopping

This street is swarming with locals and tourists trying to get to the thousands of little shops set up on the side walk. There are many items you can buy in Nvo. Laredo, some are things you won't find anywhere else, and some you can. Remember you can always bargain with the locals.... always start with your lowest bid and make your way up...

Nuevo Laredo Warnings and Dangers

  • Take ID.

Went down there with a friend, both of us are whiter than white with the most obvious southern accents, yet the border guards gave us much grief trying to get back across. There's a cheap little flea market on the TX-side of the border that was well worth the stop.

  • Nuevo Laredo. Scammers! Stalkers!

If you are a tourist in Nuevo Laredo, watch out for these 3 things. There are a lot of people who sell stuff and will try and scam you into buying it for more then it is worth. Don't let them fool you. Also, you should always have someone with you while traveling through Nuevo Laredo because there are chances of getting lost and there has been a...

  • Crowded Streets - Watch out for...

Okay, so you're having a great time shopping... you just got out of a really crowded area... what was that? Your wallets missing? Your purse is gone? While walking close to people in crowded areas, get a good grip of your purse, put your wallet on your front pockets, don't lose sight of already purchased items. Pick-pocketing is common in any...

Nuevo Laredo Favorites

  • When shopping, remember this...

Sometimes you do not realize, especially if you're a tourist coming into Neuvo Laredo (like I was and I didn't think of this at first either), but the things you buy there are mostly made by poor children who's parents send them on the streets to make an extra couple of dollars to feed their families, buy them clothes, etc. so I think it's okay to...

  • La Pazza

Well I was only here for a day. I will sum up everything I know with this one tip. The shopping is good and cheap but a lot of street vendors are always shoving things in your face. If you are weak at heart, take some money to give away; there are tons of beggars. Most bars have an open bar policy, you pay like 10 dollars or 90-100 pesos and you...
