Reynosa isn't too terribly big, so you should wear some comfortable shoes and walk around a bit. Keep in a group & stay aware of your surroundings, but during the day most of the populated areas are safe for visitors.

Part of the experience of being in Reynosa or other Mexican towns is to enjoy the markets on the street and to test your bargaining & negotiating skills. It can be fun if you have the right attitude before you start.

Make certain you have a passport or some form of picture identification to verify who you are and that you have a right to be crossing into Mexico and back out again. Actually, getting into Mexico is very easy. The return back is more stringent and often requires you to answer questions and open your bags & packages.
