Beach at CHACHALACAS
The beach was across a small mud road outside my hotel. When I walked out of the hotel grounds & into the village, it was a huge shock. The place was very desolate, the street dirty & lined on the beach side with uninviting open-air palapa restaurants. Palapas are open structures with palm-thatched roofs. All the heavy equipment needed to make things work in the kitchen is spread out all over the place, broken & summarily fixed with pieces of cardboard or sticks of wood. Gas & water tanks, old stoves, plastic pails, fridges that surely can no longer be used, ramshackle tables with dusty plastic tablecloths, all adorned with the ubiquitous plastic bowls of green & red salsa waiting since god knows when for the first customers to arrive. The whole street is topped by a mess of electrical cords, tangled onto worm-eaten poles & flying used plastic bags blown up there by the wind.I walked...
