Afterwards, I walked down the stairs and came to the river. I took my tennis shoes and socks out and preceded to upriver through waist high water. I finally managed to find some walking ground and continued hiking the rest of the way to the waterfalls. When I got there I came across a couple that had walked down another path. Figures, hehehe... there was no water through the other way, LOL! At least I made it and as they said, "you made it to the waterfalls, and that's what counts." Of course, the adventure will remain a memory forever.
On the way down from the top view across the gorge, one can get a view of the start as the river flows downwards toward the waterfall.
The Cascada de Texolo is located just a few kilometers off Xico, Veracruz. Before heading down the gorge to see the waterfalls, I headed uphill to view the falls from atop and across the Gorge. The vegetation here is unbelievable.
For the hungry souls or those with a fancy for Mexican food, then try the tasty "Restaurante Mirador." Their comida corrida is inexpensive and good :).
To get to and from Xico, there are busses running to and from Xalapa constantly throughout the day. A ride to Xico runs around 20.00 pesos (USD$2.00), or so.
I cannot find the location of exactly where these busses leave from, but when I find it, I will post it.
There are collectivos that drop you off on Xico. From there you have to walk a few kilometers to the waterfall.
