On Monday almost all of the museums are closed - but not this one. What a break, because it's a great place with some unusual stuff to look at. For starters they have an impressive collection of small retablos painted during the period of religious persecution after the Reform Laws. These are basically little altarpieces people hid in their homes (to avoid punishment, imprisonment, death) and were painted by non-professionals. Explore the Parks of Zacatecas

Throughout Zacatecas are numerous small but beautiful parks. They're highly sculpted, usually with an array of different flowers, trees, and fountains.Take a break from your shopping and exploring by just sitting down on a bench in a park and relaxing under a shady tree.
Wander the streets of Zacatecas
by rmdw
Zacatecas is a walker's paradise! Find a place to park your car (and write down where it is!) and then explore the city aimlessly. The beautiful old streets have wonderful surprises at every turn. The city is also built on the side of a mountain so, much like San Francisco, it is quite hilly in places. Eventually you may choose to hail a taxi to get you to the next locale.
