The beaches - make great scenes for great beachparties with a bottle of cheap tequila, friends and a guitar;)! Being more serious, the different peñas have great entertainment too and all the mayor hotels and citites seem to have really cool and chic clubs and discos. In a peña, wear nice clothes but nothing really fancy unless there's a national or local fiesta. In the clubs I have seen lots of people wearing jeans but also nice dresses and jackets, so it's like in the rest of the world. Still, remember that if you're a female you shouldn't underdo the dressing...
The Zazarak, The Capote, The Kokomo, Escandalos, all are night clubs be careful when going but being careful you'll have a great time. Do NOT get too drunk you will be detained and the Judiciales will not be kind.
Creel: Well, Creel doesn't have much going in it at any point of the day, much less the night. Natives cruise the street, back and forth, which, personally, would get boring after one or two passes, as the street isn't a half-mile long through town. It isn't bad sitting out on the sidewalk watching people go by, or in the square doing the same. Most stores are closed when it gets dark, but restaurants are open, and the bars open too. I don't know about any bars except for the Best Western bar, and while the decor was neat, I doubt their ability to mix drinks other than margaritas and pina coladas.
In the evenings, guests at the area's only hotel help release newly hatched turtles into the sea. December marks the penultimate hatching month, and the temperatures, usually about 80 degrees, allow for extended hours in the sun.

All the locals come out on the weekend around the esplanade by the beach. All the young guys cruise, and all of the ladies dress to impress! Lots of street vendors selling local food that is great!Lots of local police cruising around in pick up trucks with automatic weapons (it's a good thing); a lot of others on foot.Everyone is has a good time. There are also lots of stores and restaurants and bars in the vicinity as well. If you want to mingle, try not to dress too much like a tourist. Otherwise dress to impress in a 'casual' manner. Remember, it's a tropical environment, and it'll probably be about 70 - 80 deg. F (at night) and about 50 - 70 % humidity (more if it rains).
LOTS of nightlife in Cancun; too much for any one person to handle. Be careful not to over-do it. You'll be a hurtin' puppy. Most Riviera Maya resorts provide some type of night life at the resort. Many have entertainment and their own discos. Play del Carmen has alot of casual bars and restaurants. Dress comfortable, but dress to impress. Some upscale clubs and restaurants in Cancun will require men to wear long pants, and nice evening wear for ladies.
Carlos O'Brians and Senor Frogs are an ABSOLUTE MUST!!Always some kind of contest going on, or dancing on tables, and just being silly with FUN DRUNK people! You're pretty much guaranted to see some kind of WILD behaviour! Well as you wish, but what you walk in with...may not be exactly what you walk out with !;)
I usually do not reccomend a lot of time in my adopted city of Tijuana....however if you are passing thru here to other points, try a night at Las Pulgas on Revolucion(main tourist area)The place is huge with 4 dance floors...one for disco and contempo latin, one intimate area for couples...and two for my favorite music form in Mex...Banda!Not many gringos here..if you are female you will be overwhelmed by dance offers...but back to Banda. Musica Banda is the country dance music of Mexico...I will warn you most gringos disdain this stuff...you see, it is oompa music with Mex. soul. Lots of brass and a fast waltz beat...over the years it has caught on with certain segments of Mexican youth, however it is a very old style of music that had its beginnings in German beer halls. If you want to get a better idea of the sound.. check out and download anything by the group El Recodo...so much for my...
Coco Bongo's and Carlos and Charlie's are two of my favorite spots in Cancun. If you are looking for a really wild time I suggest going to Senior Frogs or to one of the many dance clubs on the strip.Everyone knows your name after going in to the clubs just once. They know all the latest dance steps and all the latest craze. I would not recommend wearing shorts to any of the establishments, but jeans and a nice shirt are pretty much what everyone wears.
