Bajacaliforniano Wine

by Smileys

Bajacaliforniano Wine Ensenada is the unofficial capital of Mexico's finest winemaking region, northwestern Baja California. Most Canadians and Americans are unaware of the quality of Mexican wines and assume rum and tequila are all the country has to offer. On the contrary, bajacaliforniano wines are shipped all over Mexico and western Europe, but because of U.S. and Canadian trade policies, they weren't exported north of the border until very recently. They're still difficult to find in Canada and the U.S., in spite of the fact that American Wine magazine now runs a regular report on Mexican wines. This may change as NAFTA reaches full implementation. In the meantime, if you want to taste wines produced in northern Baja, you can always go to the source. To learn more about Baja wines, and to sample some vintages, join one of the daily tours offered at Bodegas de Santo Tomçs in Ensenada...

by Smileys

Drink a couple of cocktails, how about a Tequila sunrise!Tequila DrinksThe usual way to drink tequila is straight up, followed by a water or beer chaser. Licking a few grains of salt before taking a shot and sucking a lime wedge afterward makes it go down smoother. The salt raises a protective coating of saliva on the tongue while the lime juice scours the tongue of salt and tequila residues.Tequila con sangrita, in which a shot of tequila is chased with a shot of sangrita (not to be confused with sangria, the wine-and-fruit punch), is a slightly more elegant method of consumption. Sangrita is a bright red mix of orange juice, lime juice, grenadine, red chile powder, and salt.An old tequila standby is the much-abused margarita, a tart Tex-Mex cocktail made with tequila, lime juice, and Cointreau (usually 'Controy' or triple-sec in Mexico) served in a salt-rimmed glass. A true margarita...

by stubie11

This is the area where I have the fondest memories. We pretty much stayed at this club called..oh god..i forgot..i will have to get back to you on that...anyways..we had lots of fun here...lots of young people and lots of tequila in yard size cups. They had the fun games here where the females showed their best side and the men too...you get what kind of plce this is....fun, fun, fun...party!!!There was also another club in downtown called the zoo. Not quite as fun as the other place but it wasnt bad. The fun thing is that the clubs were open until 3 or 4 am so you had lots of time to party. We did not go to any of the other clubs. Both of these were in walking distance from each other in downtown.Well I dont think I need to elaborate too much on this subject. The zoo is the only place I remember having a dress code. You had to look decent and no baseball caps. They were not too nice to...

by mmanchack

Resist the urge - don’t go to Carlos and Charlies!! That is, unless you’re still between the ages of 15 and 20 and drinking too much is still a novelty. Even if you are an adult and love to imbibe (like me), it’s not worth the screaming American teenagers and exorbitant American prices. If you can find a nice restaurant or bar with a nice mariachi band and fabulous Mexican drinks, you’re going to have a lot more fun. Trust me.

Clubbing at the B Side in Guadalajara. Ronnie is taking a bottle of tequila to the head. Tequila is Mexico's national drink and it is made from the blue agave plant. Guadalajara is the tequila production capital of the world and every club has a full stock of this stuff. Ronnie was soon knocked on his B Side after a long swig from the bottle!

These photos were taken at a wild club in Guadlajara on the same road as the University. It's called the B Side but if going there by taxi refer to it by its Spanish name..just translate.Huge multi level dance floors, multiple bars, booming sound system, live DJ, beautiful women and men. Most people are locals and the music is mostly European and American dance mixes with some Spansh rock mixed in. Exellent place to go party and the people are very friendly. casual...but it doesnt hurt to dress up a bit.

MERIDA.....You are looking at a picture of the Cuban show put on nightly at Tucho's nightclub in Merida. The show begins at 6:00pm. They serve good dinners and the bar is well stocked. I love the Cuban music and the performers are great! Tucho's closes early (at !0:00pm). Guests dress casually to dressy.
