Besides the usual sites (Centro Histórico, Teotihuacan, Antropología), tourists should definitely get to know Mexico City's turn-of-the-century neighborhoods, particularly the Colonia Roma and the Condesa. They are laden with beautiful parks and wonderful Art Nouveau and Art Decó buildings. They have also become in recent years the hippest area in the City, full of funky stores, restaurants, cafés and bars. And if you are into New Age sort of things, you can try going to Sensorama, a quasi-educational locale, manned by hip youngsters, and dedicated to providing non-visual sensorial experiences. I won't tell you more, just try it! (by the way they have a web page, whose address I can't seem to remember).

Coba prnounced KO Baa is perhaps one most tourists have missed. Inland from Tulum area, this ancient ruin still is under archeological recovery with limited days to access.

Rent a jeep and head South. Can't miss it. There is only one road there. It's beautiful!

Cozumel: Must rent a Jeep, being careful of course to not leave valuables alone in it for any length of time, to see the sites not readily available. Try to go to the National Park as well...the snorkeling is AWESOME (especially for the beginner) and you can even sometimes swim with the dolphins! Playa del Carmen: Altho we didn't take advantage of them, there are many tours to take including the ruins and Xel-ha (National Park). Heard very good things about both but I guess it depends on personal interests.

Most of the travelers to Mexico will go to nice beaches but few will visit our colonial and ancient cities. BIG mistake, always are ways to travel to the real Mexico, if you do it will no have regrets. Leave a Comment
