Some 65 km north of Mexico City lies small town of Tule De Allende. While aproaching it, you'll notice many factories but the old center with fortified monastery is quite pleasent. The main reason to go to Tula is to see the remains of ancient Toltec indians capital. The site is rather small, but with it's 4,5 m tall stone warriors worth a visit. My Tula Page

Botanical gardens in Toluca

For someone interested in plants and stained glass a stop in Toluca to visit the Botanical Gardens would be special. It resides in the center of the city in an art nouveau stain glass building originally built as 'El mercado de 16 de Septiembre'. (Think --Gare de Paris with a stain glass roof and Japanese tropical botanical garden.) While in Toluca you also might visit the watercolor museum.

Canyon del Sumidero

One of the highlights of my trip through Mexico was a visti to this canyon in Chiapas state, just east of capital Tuxtla Gutierez. This ride through the canyon on small speed boats (sometimes reaching the speed well over 50km/h) is fascinating. At one point the walls of the canyon reach the hight of over 1000m. Besides this work that Rio Grijalva did in million year you can expect too see variety of animals (birds, monkies, crocodiles...) and rich vegetation. If you are going this way, make sure to make a stop here and take this 2 hour adrenalin ride.My Canyon del Sumidero Page

Lagunas are the group of some 60 smaller lakes which vary in colour. They spred over 10 km. The whole area is on plateau which makes visit to Lagunas refreshing, compared to humid, lowland Chiapas, pine-woods grow instead of dense jungle. It's a great place to evade crowds, have a long walks and time just for yourself.The Nationa Park Lagunas De Montebello lies rigt on the Guatemalan border. Misol-Ha cascade

Misol-ha is a 35 metres height cascade which flows out in a basin where the bathe is possible. A small way passes behind the cascade and leads to a small cave where an underground river and a cascade flow out. you can get there together with Agua Azul by a day tour from Palenque.

These beautiful waterfalls of Agua Azul are located 56 km from Palenque in the State of Chiapas, Mexico. They have deep blue waters The best deal of getting there is to take an (not expensive) organized tour from palenque. A way up the villages passing many souvenir shops leads to more cascades, but robberies were reported in the upper part of the way SO BE CAREFUL..Nearby you can admire the 40 meters-high Misol-Ha cascade.

few hours Tour from San Crisrobal you will arrive at a superb green area near the border with Guatemala. Here you can see a series of lagoons whose main characteristic is their beautiful colors, the most outstanding being the Esmeralda Lagoon. At the same time, the place is prodigious in fauna and flora, specially birds, and a great number of gladiolas that grow wild by the tree trunks. It's realy worth a day visit.

Canon de Sumidero

You shouldn't miss the short detour to the Canon de Sumidero, a gorge with walls of more than 1000 m. There are organized tours from San Christobal or you could get off the bus to Tuxtla Gutiérrez at the Canon. The fare on one of the collective boats is about 10 Dollar. The trip through the Canon takes 2 hours to the dam at the power station. The trip is really nice, with luck you can see some crocodiles at the banks.
