Quad Moto

by micas_pt

We decided to rent some quad moto for an afternoon and go for a ride in jungle along with a guide and some other people staying in same resort. It was a great afternoon since we travelled through the jungle, visited some nice places we would never reach if walking or driving a car and visited some nice cenotes, were we had the chance of bathing.

Hierve el Agua

by shdw100

So, we rented a car and the lady at the car place said "You have to see Hierve de Agua", so we said, "Why not?" The only way to see this place is by renting a car because it is really out there in the middle of no where! You have to take dirt road up in the highlands to find the place. We stopped at a little town to ask where we were and they said "just keep going, you cannot miss it!" Well, after about an hour on the road, we finally made it, and it was well worth the effort! The place is actually some highly concentrated mineral springs that have crusted over with time. You can walk on the places where the water comes out and view the spectacular scenery around the falls. It was a wonderful site! Here is a more detailed description from a website: There are two impressive petrified waterfalls here (calcium carbonate), that were formed thousands of years ago, as the result of dripping...

Santa Maria del Tule

Location of supposedly the largest tree in the world. The tree is HUGE, you cannot encompass it all in one picture up close. Located near Oaxaca City, it's worth the short taxi or bus drive to see this gigantic living tree!

Iztacihualt: 5300 meters high!

by bloorange

Well, if you are a "high mountain person" and want to see snow in Mexico (Yes, you have heard right!), this one of the best adventure you will be able to take there. Get to the top of the Iztacihualt, 5300 meters high! It will take you 2 days to get there and you will need to be in very good shape and used to high altitudes and that's about it, the way not being one of the toughest for that kind of height!

Tip Photo
Cenote

by Tomtom-Paris

In the Yucatan state you will cross lot of "Cenote". It's a natural huge well outside or inside and sometime with a big cave. Oh course you can have a swim in thoses "Cenote".In the picture it's a cenote near Valladolid, 5km from the center when you take the road to Chichen Itza. You can jump from the top (6 -8 meters) So fun and refreshing !

Nevado de Toluca by night!

by bloorange

If you can wake up early, I would strongly recommend this little adventure... accessible from Mexico City. The idea is to get to the top of the mountain until the sun is starting to rise. Do it with some friends, get some warm clothes... After a 1.5 h drive, you will have only a one hour walk to get to the top of the mountain (volcan), then wait and you will have an incredible view on the Popocatepelt and the Iztacihuat!

Tip Photo
Real de Catorce

by bloorange

One of the most incredible place to go!Real de catorce was built around its silver reserves reputation then the city started to decline year after year, silver being togher to find. Today it is almost a ghost city with all the stories left behind, people get there for the incredible past or because they want to find "peyotes" (cactus with speficities that make them a forbiden drug!) There is only one way to get there, you will have to go through a tunnel done more than 200 years ago with TNT!A real adventure, real people... For info, this is the place where the movie "The Mexican" with Brad Pitt was shot!

Beautiful coastal nature

by malinaberg

Erendira, about an hours drive from Ensenada in northern Baja California, is a jewel well hidden from conventional american tourists. Its hard to get there; its somewhat of an understatement to say that the roads are crappy... Its worth it, though, if you're into taking walks in amazing nature and just enjoying impressive scenarios.

Finding the elusive poolside Solarius Bathius

by Bunununu

When traveling to exotic destinations, don't forget to make new friends, such as the two bathing beauties in the picture. They had just returned from Scuba diving and were soaking up a little sun at poolside.

The Voladores

by Joan58

Wherever you are in Mexico don't miss the spectacular performance of 'Voladores'. Four men tied with a rope fall into space head down from the top of a pole 20-25 meters high, while the fifth one seated on the platform spins it playing a flute. This ancient rite began by Totonacs tribe in Central Mexico as a ceremony of fertility in God Xipe Totec's honour. Nowadays it has become a tourist attraction performed in all Mexico.
