we hardly brought anything and bought all we neededlocally - partly to support the local economy - partly to travel light. We bought brought hiking shoes and sandals, 2 sarongs for me, and two pair of shorts for my brother. Then t-shirts for both, swimming suits and a towel. a tent, since we were camping a lot, plenty of water purifying tablets, sleeping-sheets and a multi-functional tool with spoon, knife and fork. we bought our camping stove locally.

Some thing hard for other people to get into. Some people try to disturb you so they can take your money or items worth money. You should wear summer clothes when I went in the summer it was very hot and humid. You should probably bring a throw away camera. Not many stores there where I was sold cameras or film, ectcetera.

Don't over pack! Well..my sister told me and I didn'tpay attention. Don't think you'll wear tons of new clothes and jewerly. You'll be in your swimsuit most of the day and wear casual clothes in the evening orto walk around. Take two pairs of shoes and cool comfortable cotton! Throw two or three disposable cameras in your bad andget the heck out of town. All you need is a swimsuit and suntan oil.Forget about everything else. Oh, if you'repretty white, sunscreen is a must or stay in the shade white man.

Resort If you are prone to motion sickness I would highly recommend bringing some Gravel. The driving there is nuts and the roads are cobblestone making it a very bumpy ride into town. I brought a filtered lens and am so glad for it. The beaches there are not white sand and the water isn't aqua so a filtered lens will really enhance the colour of your pictures. I would recommend bringing scented candles or incense. Due to the humidity the rooms can smell quite musty.

For the kind of trip I did (a month of travelling all over Mexico) I took a large 50-75 litre rucksack (with good chest and waist straps) as well as a small daysack for if I did a litte day trip and was returning to the same hotel where I could leave the big pack. The big rucksack was packed with EVERYTHING that i needed on the trip. It was used for trekking too, it is obvious that if you are going to be doing alot of walking, climbing, or are going to be generally on the move alot, you don't want a suitcase! The climate in most of Mexico (at the time of year I went: July- august)is fairly predictable: sun until about 4 o'clock then rain. Therefore you need all your sun lotions, hats, t-shirts, shorts and glasses for that but also make sure you have a light weight water proof in an easily accessible part of your bag (the weather pattern may be predictable, but exactly when it will start...

If you are backpacking get the less weight possible. If you are getting around the south the weather is mostly hot, so sandal (like beach), will be the most used shoe.Although you are traveling around the center or north a pair of shoes will be ok. Take with you toilet paper (for emergencies ;-) )Aspirins and band-aids will be useful. I took with myself a sleeping bag, maybe it's unconfortable to travel, but a small one will be very useful sometimes. I slept on bus stations and on a Ship and saved my night.

Hiking Don´t forget to bring a flashlight if you´re staying at budget accomodations if you wanna be sure of a safe nightly walk to the bathroom! At the beach houses in Tulum for example there´s just a few hours of electricity. If you´re planning to stay in a youth hostel bring your own lock.

The temp. ranges from the 80's to the 100's. Pack your summer clothes. A pair of pants or one nice outfit incase you choose to go out to a fancy restaurnat. Sandels, a pair of shoes & sneakers are the extent of shoes you will need to take. A must to take is Pepto! I recommend that you take it once a day - just in case. Ammodium AD isnt a bad idea to pack either. Strong sun protection. Even with wearing 15 or 25 spf you will get a great tan. Throw away cameras are very easy to take along!

The best way (I've tryied it for more journeys)is to take with bigger and smaller baggage. The bigger is possible to let in some left-luggage place (main train or bus station) and with small you can make comfortable expeditions (up to 10 days with consist about 10 kg) through the countryside or cities. If you travel in summer time to Mexico, you don't miss solar glass, T-shirts, shorts, light pants, light sweater (the nights in the heights around 2 or 3 km are relative cool), waterproof windcheater, good shoes (but it needn't be some special) - e. g. tennis shoes and (for wondering in the city)some sport sandals. For free time: slips for swimming. Take please a sun creame (level 10 or more), strepsils (cool water in hot weather can make sometime pain in your throat), repelent, antihistaminicum (against common skin allergy), panthenol, antipyreticum (Paracetamol and so on), elastic...
