Mexico long coastal area allows visitors to practice several water sports, both motorized and non-motorized.

If you enjoy sailing or yachting then i'm sure you found ideal spot for dream holidays. Weather is great, sun shines, water has a beautiful colour and warm temperature, what else can you ask for?

Apart from boats you can also enjoy other activities, such as jet sky, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking and some other amusing activities by the sea. Have fun!

Mexico's touristy areas provide several chances for those who enjoy sports travel, apart from previously mentioned sailing, yachting and scuba diving. Yucatán provides several golf greens on the surroundings of best all-inclusive resorts, where you can also find infrastructures such as tennis courts, football and basketball.

Trekking might also prove to be a nice choice while visiting Mexico.

So, there are plenty of activities for those who don't enjoy lying in the beach or by the pool the whole day.

While visiting Yucatán you can scuba dive on the world's second largest coral barrier. You will find beautiful spots with amazing colourful fish, not to mention coral barrier. Don't forget that for diving you must have a license, … although it's easy to find diving schools there that can provide your lessons for about $400. In 2 days you will be ready for diving, according to their words, which I find little since most diving schools take longer, both theoretical and practical lessons.

Not only will you find several chances for diving in the sea, but you will also easily find cenotes and beautiful underwater caves where you can also scuba dive right in the middle of Yucatán jungle.

For those who don't have a scuba diving license, snorkelling is a great option. Both sea and cenotes provide amazing scenarios for such activity.

Anyone not afraid of heights should try parasailing. Participants are attached to a parachute, which is towed out over the bay by a speedboat. As the speedboat gains speed, the parachute lifts the parasailor high into the air where he soars over the water like a bird.

It was fun but expensive ($15.00 for a five-minute ride in 1983). However, for me it was worth the cost.

Enlarge the picture to see a parasailor between the palm trees.

    Baja 1000 40th annaversary

  • This November 14-18 will be the 40th running of the world famous Baja 1000 off road race. The event will take place in Tijuana, but contingency and race start will be in Ensenada and go all the way down the Peninsula. My tip is that the course will be all laid out 1 month in advance. Any and all who wish to pre-run the course can do so free of charge. Two weeks before the race is the best time to do the pre-run. In a normal 4x4 you can do the course in 3 days. It will have all the mile markers set so you dont get lost. I've done this many times and it is one of the best off road experiences you could ever imagine. At the end you are in Cabo San Lucas, do some fishing and drive back up on the paved road. For more info go to Score-international.com

Any 4x4 in good shape. Bring 2 spare tires and all off-road camping equipment

    Bullfighting

  • Who knew? I always assumed bullfighting was the people's sport. It's not--that's soccer (futbol). The aristocrats go to bullfights & it can cost plenty by Mexico standars. Well worth it though--you can get cheap seats. I'm a pretty non-violent type but I loved it. It's all about pageantry. Horns, plumed horses, tradition. There's gore too, but if you go for that, you'll be disappointed.

    Go see a fútbol game!

  • I have never been into soccer (fútbol) in any way. But when I visited my friend in Mexico, they treated me to seeing a semi-final National League soccer game at Estadio Azteca (seats 100,000!). I tell you *that* is an experience!!!! You get to see the Mexican people in a place of one of their greatest passions of all: soccer. AND: the soccer is such a high level of skill it is GREAT to watch live! I'm not yet much interested in watching soccer on TV, but in real, in Latin America, I wouldn't miss out a good game. Budget some dough and go see a game!

We went snorkeling at Chancanaab park . Very nice place with a reef right next to the beach. It cost $14 to get in but was worth it. You can rent the equipment there, but we had our own. Put on plenty of sunscreen!

snorkeling equipment, bring from home or rent it there
