Go see a fútbol game!

by Ames24

I have never been into soccer (fútbol) in any way. But when I visited my friend in Mexico, they treated me to seeing a semi-final National League soccer game at Estadio Azteca (seats 100,000!). I tell you *that* is an experience!!!! You get to see the Mexican people in a place of one of their greatest passions of all: soccer. AND: the soccer is such a high level of skill it is GREAT to watch live! I'm not yet much interested in watching soccer on TV, but in real, in Latin America, I wouldn't miss out a good game. Budget some dough and go see a game!

Bullfighting

by bkoloski

Who knew? I always assumed bullfighting was the people's sport. It's not--that's soccer (futbol). The aristocrats go to bullfights & it can cost plenty by Mexico standars. Well worth it though--you can get cheap seats. I'm a pretty non-violent type but I loved it. It's all about pageantry. Horns, plumed horses, tradition. There's gore too, but if you go for that, you'll be disappointed.
