Tijuana, Mexico. It is...

by mexvisitor

Tijuana, Mexico. It is trashy, dirty and you cannot walk ten feet without someone accosting you to go into one of the 'titty' bars. Cheap sombreros and gaudy trinkets, not at all a reflection of the real Mexico, rather a stereotypical cliche aimed at and for ignorant visitors.

by jondam

the merchants hagle you for your business. you can chew them down by telling them no and walking away. we wanted a blanket that said cozumel on it and the merchant said $65. we said $20. he said no. so we walked away. next thing i know he comes running after us 'ok mi amigo $20' and there you go.

by TYCOON007

The main 5th street ( The main drag with all tourist shops ) was very safe to walk around even at 2:00am in the morning. Watch out for people on the street trying to in invite you to visit a time shares ( They call them 'Vacation Club' now. If you have time it would great to go and listen to their junk and walk away with their free price they offer, if not just keep away...................I went to one It quoted me US$13,500 for 80 weeks of vacation ( No black out dates ) When I left he had offered the samething to me for US$2200 for 100 weeks at a vacation club. I walked away as there was strings attached and he was not a honest guy........Good luck negociating

Cancun- Zona Hotelera:...

by visitor64

Cancun- Zona Hotelera: Cuidado! OK?

Time Share Stands and Tour...

by shalomc

Time Share Stands and Tour Marketing personnel are everywhere, in every corener of the street asking you 'how r u today? Going touring? Going Snorkeling? etc.' Avoid them nicely with a NO.If you want the activities go there yourself. They will be much cheaper.

by tiirrep

There are many silver shops in Taxco and the prices vary pretty widely. Below is a business card to a shop in which I felt the merchants were fair and honest. I would recommend that you stop by their store if your interested in purchasing silver crafts. If you are standing at the entrance to the church and facing towards the square, you can see Sebastian's on the left.

by gkitzmil

If traveling in DF or Mexico City, don't catch a taxi on the street BUT -- beware of the driver prices at big hotels. A 'Tourist' driver at a major hotel may cost 50% more than from a smaller hotel.

by sdhc

Xcaret - it's nice if you go & stay from a.m. - night time. The night show was really nice--a little long though. Don't go for snorkeling or diving - they are far to 'security conscious.' You have to stay within the lines--ugh! Food was good at the Italian restaurant. Not a place where I would go with a tour group because you'll get sidetracked. Beware of the underground river - it's cold!!

by Neuras

The forty-minute local tours around the Veracruz bay are not worth it. It´s better when you are in an own boat or a friend's boat where you can spend at least two hours and get a chance to do scubadiving or swimm. As in everywhere, watch out for the taxidrivers, either if you are driving or if you are riding with one of them! Also watch out for the local tourist guides, make sure they speak understandable English if you need so before hiring them.

by gpep

Well, touristic places like Acapulco,Cancun, puerto Vallarta are really nice to visit, they offer you good climate, nice beaches, luxurious hotels but in my opinion is not the real Mexico. If you want nice beaches I'm sure you can find closer to your country.Explore the interior of the country!!
