BUS TRAVEL

by ViajesdelMundo

here is a website which lists the different areas served by the respective bus lines in Mexico:http://www.differentworld.com/mexico/buses.htmWe have travelled many areas around Mexico using various bus lines and they have all been comfortable, with reclining seats, mostly with toilets on board, and if long distance provide a lunch with choice of soda, and usually show movies, which are often the original in English with Spanish subtitles.

Mexico bus schedule

by carkola

Getting Mexican bus schedules has never been easier. On the web side of http://thebusschedule.com one has to put on only ORIGIN, DESTINATION and travel time and all corresponding schedules including company information is given out. A relay easy way to plan any travel. Ferry and Train schedules are included too. Schedules from some places in the US down to Mexico are also available.

Mexico by bicycle.

by cachaseiro

I have done tthree bike trips through Mexico and i was suprised how good cycling was there.Sure there is not much in the way of bike tracks and so, but many roads have good shoulders because of the large amount of horses and other soft traffic and i found that people look out for you and i have never had a close call with a car in Mexico while cycling.Mexico is probaply the country in the whole world with the most speed bumps and that makes the traffic more bicycle friendly too.

Carnival Cruise

by Florida999

We went to Mexico on a 5 day Carnival cruise that left from Mobile , Alabama. The "Holiday" is the oldest and smallest ship they have, and we found out soon. First the engine had problems and we left like 5 hours late, then the ship rocked so bad in the stormy first night that we thought we were going to fall out of our beds. I don't think I really like being on a ship. I don't get seasick, but I just don't sleep well with my bed moving the entire time. But, the staff of the cruise line sort of made up for it! They were all extremely nice and helpfull. When I finally complained about the loud engine noise ( I guess the repairs where not perfect) on the last night, they gave me a new room and told me I should have asked for one earlier.....The food was very good and entirely too much of it. The room stewards kept our room in perfect condition and put these cute little towel animals on the...

Tip Photo
the buses

by rkearns

This is what you will inevitably end up in while traveling around the country by bus. They are comfortable, air conditioned, and pretty tattered. At stops along your journey, vendors will hop on the bus selling food, CD's, or singing and playing the guitar or pan flute for money.

Radio Taxis are safer than taxis off the street.

by pwlewis

Be aware that some expenditures are subject to a 15% VAT tax such as bus tickets, etc. Often, one can avoid paying the VAT tax by paying in cash and not asking for an invoice. You will find buses, taxis, and basic food to be inexpensive. I agree, pay in pesos. Most towns in tourist areas have currency-exchange offices. The U.S. dollar is the most widely accepted foreign currency in Mexico.

Intercity bus

by TA7DS

I have just returned after spending four weeks in Mexico. And I have to say what an eye opener it was. Mexican buses by all means put greyhound to shame. (melosh thanks again for your advice before I left) If you do decide to take buses, and your itinerary has a route operated by ETN, please do jump at the experience. Have a great time.
